Hello Everyone,

We are officially opening this month's POTM contest here. Banners will be up in a few days. Hopefully you guys are still stoked about the POTMs

Last date of Submission : September 26th, 2011

To submit your entry, make an entry into this thread with the following:

1 - A small description of your project.

2 - A picture or video of your setup

3 - Code.

4 - Schematic(rough/hand drawn is fine as long its legible)

About judging the winner :

A week before the contest ends, a poll will be created with all the project entries. Only members of the forum will be allowed to vote.

The contest will roll over to the next month if there are fewer than 5 projects(four or less).

A few simple rules to follow:

- You must be a member of the 43oh forum at least a week before your submission.

- One entry from each member will be permitted.

- Your project can be anything based around the MSP430. You may interface the MSP430 to another controller.

- You may reuse code from anywhere as long as you give credit to the original author.

- You must submit code and schematics of your project with a proper description.

- You can submit your MSP430 project, even if it was created before the annoucement of the contest.

- You must have at least 5 posts in the forums, for your entry to be considered when the voting begins.

- A member is free to modify his/her code to perfection, till the closing date, as long as the original entry is not change.

For eg: If a member submits "Launchpad controlled Space Shuttle", he/she can modify code, schematics and hardware and improve upon it till the closing date. But a change in project to "Launchpad controlled Robot" will not be allowed. Hopefully this will encourage members to post their projects early and not play the waiting game.

Prizes:

Winner : Gabotronics has graciously donated a Xprotolab Mixed signal oscilloscope.

Runner up : Fully populated DEV.BREAK donated by NJC from MSP430Launchapd

Third Prize: MSP430 Capacitive Booster Pack

Fourth Prize: Dangerous Prototypes Free PCB Code

Fifth Prize: Dangerous Prototypes Free PCB Code

A big thank you to the sponsors.

Okay so here is mine, it's a small strotoscobic guitar tuner/development board for msp430 in 16 pin tssop package.   Moved all the info to its own thread so I will only leave the rendered view here.

Hi everyone!   I will be upgrading until the end of the contest probably, but since i have all the basics working, schematics drawn, most bugs out of the code, and some decent first (driving) test v

This is my iambic keyer project, submitted for POTM. This pdf file contains a project description, a schematic, and the code: MSPTinyKeyer.pdf   Here is a picture of the completed project:

Great!

I was hoping to have my first project in a somewhat completed state soon, so a definite goal is kind of welcome :)

On the timeline, i think i remember from last contest that it lasts till the end of the month, or moves on a month if less than 5 entries are submitted?

Edit: i was thinking about the schematics, but nevermind, i found the announcements page:http://www.43oh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1114#p1114

Cheers!

Hi Everyone,

I just spoke to Ian from DangerousPrototypes and he'll be glad to offer the following:

- A free PCB coupon code for the runner ups(This would be the Fourth and Fifth places) from the PCB drawer. This way you get a better chance at winning.

- If the winner(first) has a PCB in their design, Dangerous Prototypes will have it fabricated for you. You will have to have your PCB files ready.

Thanks to DP!

  • 2 weeks later...

It's pretty quiet here, nobody planning an entry?

Because i've been working toward the deadline next week, but looks like it will be extended a month.

Or are you just all hard at work like me trying to get ready in time? ;)

Nothing negative, i like a deadline, it helps me work more structured. And i will have some more time for additions and tweaking then :)

Cheers!

I've been working on mine, running into problems alot. (Hmm, maybe I should move my circuit to protoboard? That may fix most of my frustrations... (Loose connections, bumping wires while working on something else, etc.))

Anyway, I'm kind of hoping the contest will run over... so I can get all my stuff together and research done.

And i will have some more time for additions and tweaking then :)

I second that. :D

I'll hopefully soon be at the announce stage of a project that I've been working on.

I'd like to enter the POTM but would just like to check there's no restrictions on geographical location. Am I okay in the UK?

As gordon said, of course. As long as USPS can ship to your country, we are good. For example: Iran, Libya, Cuba, Syria, Sudan, Myrmar, Indonesia and North Korea are excluded.
