CCS 6.2 Reloacte Interrupt Vectors MSP430FR5969

Recommended Posts

I can't find the correct way to relocate Interrputs Vectors with CCS6.2 for MSP430FR5969.

The blink led application use TIMER_A0 :

    #include "msp430.h"

    #define DOUBLE_BLINK

    //#pragma LOCATION(main, 0xF000)
    void main(void)
    {
      WDTCTL = WDTPW + WDTHOLD;                 // Stop WDT

      PM5CTL0 &= ~LOCKLPM5;

      // Setup GPIO
      P1OUT &= ~0x01;                           // Set P1.0 to output low
      P1DIR |= 0x01;                            // P1.0 output

      // Setup Timer_A3
      TA0CCTL0 = CCIE;                          // TA0CCR0 interrupt enabled
      TA0CCR0 = 32768;                          // ~1s
      TA0CTL = TASSEL_1 + MC_2;                 // ACLK, contmode

      P1OUT |= 0x01;                            // P1.0 = On
      __delay_cycles(500000);                   // Wait 500ms
      P1OUT &= ~0x01;                           // P1.0 = Off

      __bis_SR_register(LPM0_bits + GIE);       // Enter LPM0 w/ interrupt
    }

    // Timer A0 interrupt service routine
    #pragma vector = TIMER0_A0_VECTOR
    __interrupt void Timer0_A(void)
    {
    P1OUT |= 0x01;                            // P1.0 = On
    __delay_cycles(100000);                   // Wait 100ms

    #ifdef DOUBLE_BLINK
    P1OUT &= ~0x01;                           // P1.0 = Off
    __delay_cycles(100000);                   // Wait 100ms
    P1OUT |= 0x01;                            // P1.0 = On
    __delay_cycles(100000);                   // Wait 100ms
    #endif

    P1OUT &= ~0x01;                           // P1.0 = Off
    TA0CCR0 += 32768;                         // Add Offset to TA0CCR0 (~1s)
    }

This code work fine with standard interrupt vectors locations: here's the linker :

But how to do if i want to move all Interrputs vectors After the FRAM (0x4400 + 0xBB00= 0xFF00) (Move IV 0x80 before the standard address).

The aim is to fit this application with Custom Bootloader.

Thx,

I personally have not looked into it in too much detail. But from what I've read the interrupt vectors are by default fixed at the top* of FRAM 0xFF80 - 0xFFFF Or if the Alternative vectors are selected at the top of RAM 0x2380 - 0x23FF.

If you would like to have 0xFF00 - 0xFF7F mapped to interrupt vector you will need to copy these into the alternative area within the RAM and then activate the alternative interrupt setting before enabling interrupts.

Just did a test in CCS on my MSP-EXP430FR5969

#include <msp430.h>

And you need to alter the Linker script to instruct the compiler to leave the RAM space clear

...
    SFR                     : origin = 0x0000, length = 0x0010
    PERIPHERALS_8BIT        : origin = 0x0010, length = 0x00F0

    INFOA                   : origin = 0x1980, length = 0x0080
    INFOB                   : origin = 0x1900, length = 0x0080
    INFOC                   : origin = 0x1880, length = 0x0080
    INFOD                   : origin = 0x1800, length = 0x0080
    FRAM                    : origin = 0x4400, length = 0xBB80
    FRAM2                   : origin = 0x10000,length = 0x4000
...

By commenting out the line below you can switch between the FRAM IV's and the RAM IV's

SYSCTL |= SYSRIVECT;

Hope this helps.

You can't move the interrupt vectors around in FRAM, the physical address is hard coded to a specific interrupt. So address 0xFFFE is always the reset vector.

If you want to alter the interrupt table, for a boot loader lets say, you can use an alternative address for these interrupts that exists in RAM, it's still a hardcoded memory location for each interrupt vector, 0x23FE for reset. But you can easily change where the interrupts will go, because they're in RAM.

Hello greeeg, I'm also working on our custom BL with Morbak.

I initially thought we could avoid using the RAM as the interrupt vector table and use some kind of proxy vector table in FRAM.

This would explain why it never started when we remapped the reset vector, and why it compiled and started BUT never entered an interrupt when reset vector was left @0xFFFE and the other vectors were remapped. I guess our options are limited to using the RAM after all :)

Thanks for your example, I will try it later on.

Appreciate your help !
