station240 0
I'm redesigning one of the TI dev kits for my own purposes, it uses a TMS320F28035. As I'm also not using the controlCARD so I have to redesign that also. Full onboard JTAG is out for cost/complexity reasons, I will have the optoisolation however. I plan to have chained JTAG ports so I can program multiple devices at once. What would be a good option for a JTAG programmer ? So have I have a choice of: Ebay XDS510 - suspect this wouldn't work with the free CCstudio, but would it be usable for faster device programming ? XDS100V3 - various sources Make my own version of the onboard XDS programmer the controlCARD has. Are there any other options I missed ? Anyone know the quality of the XDS510's on ebay, eg are they using fake FTDI chips or suspect software ?
greeeg 460
I'm not too familiar with the TMS320F28035, that seems to be a C2000 series. Looking at some of TI's dev boards it looks like their JTAG setup is all run by a FTDI (USB>parallel/IO) adapter. If cost is an issue you could take a launchpad, remove the optoisolators and tap out the JTAG signals onto your custom board. I would personally steer clear of buying anything with a FTDI IC from ebay/china given FTDI's stance on counterfiet chips, and bricking or not functioning with updates to their drivers.
