New toys on June 10th!

Recommended Posts

There's already a post about the rumor and I'm just here to tease a bit :P

A new ARM toy is coming June 10th.  Not only a new board but a new part.
Be on the lookout!

I looked back at our previous MSP432 sleuthing thread as I know we thought it might be Cortex M4F M0 or M0+ at one point.

I've hardly had a chance to play with the MSP432 yet, so I'm happy to wait and see. There is a MSP432 webinar on June 10th but no clues there that I could see.

@rocket4kids Sorry - just me getting things back to front. The existing MSP432 is M4F. We thought it might be M0 or M0+ at one point. I'll correct my post above.

So.. if it links in to this post then that would imply a TMS570LC4357-based LaunchPad.

LaunchPads sometimes seem to follow along from the more expensive DKs and there is already a DK for the LC4357, so it wouldn't be a leap to imagine a LaunchPad version of this:

I started that post and have never said LC4357 would be the target.

It wouldn't make sense, at least to me, that they would put a BGA chip on an LP. I mean, LP's are "friendly" and "inexpensive". The LQP144 package on the TMS57012 LaunchPad brought just about everything out to two 40 pin BP headers and what didn't make it to those was put out on the 100 pads on the edges of the board.

LC4357 is 337NFBGA ... more than 2x the interconnects. I wonder how that works out?

@@Fred - Sorry if I came across terse or similar.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were based around the 4357, but like I mentioned it'd be an odd choice for a LaunchPad given its footprint. On the other hand, as the only R5F chip in the lineup it makes sense to show it off.
