compare Circuitco and Element14

Recommended Posts

Only possible differences I can think of would possibly be kernel version, and Linux ( Debian ) image version differences. We do not have any cicuitco REVC's here. But we do have 2 A5A's, and 3 Element14 REVC's.

Circuitco A5A's came with Angstrom. 3.8.6 kernel( I think ). I've upgraded mine, but still running Angstrom on the eMMC, I mostly run Debian from sdcard ( and nfsroot ) Since . . . well a long time. Right now . . . I'm experimenting with a "newer" RCN built image, with a newer testing kernel. Normally, I run my own custom built images . . . based on RCN's build instructions.

debian@beaglebone:~$ uname -a
Linux beaglebone 3.14.37-ti-r57 #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Apr 4 00:31:51 UTC 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux
debian@beaglebone:~$ cat /etc/dogtag
BeagleBoard.org BeagleBone Debian Image 2014-11-19

Circuitco REVc ? Obviously some form of Debian, but otherwise. No Idea.

element14 REVc ? Debian with kernel 3.8.13-bone47. Not sure what date is on the rootfs image, but do not care to hunt mine down, and plug it in to find out.

Out of the box, the element14 REVc "just works", Like one would expect.
