NJC 17
Wow, I totally forgot about goldmine elec. I used them years ago! They were great back then. Perfect for the weird parts you only need once. I haven't even gone to their website in over 6 years. Lol. NJC

Mac 67
I know this is an old thread but the discussion about surplus electronics outlets got me thinking and I was wondering if there is anyone old enough to remember Poly-Paks which I believe was somewhere in Mass? Cheerful regards, Mike
bluehash 1,581
I don't, but there is a You Do It Electronics close by.
RobG 1,892
I remember some 20 years ago there was a nice place in Woburn MA, lots of good stuff to pick through. Another good place was Active Electronics, out of few stores I have been to (LI NY, MA, Toronto,) the one in Montreal was the best. All those great places are gone now. zeke 693
FYI, Active is still around. It's now called Active Tech. There's one here in Calgary and it's in the original location.

Fe2o3Fish 33
Mike, I certainly remember Poly-Paks -- dealt with them a time or two but, daggummit, those memories are on backup tapes. Man, it's been a number of DECADES. I may have an old issue of Popular Electronics with their little ad in it. Locally (around Dallas, TX) we have BGMicro and Tanner Electronics. Tanner's is a great place to wonder about, get lost, and get into trouble at the register. I do it as often as possible. :-) -Rusty-
jsolarski 94
ANother great surplus store is American Science and Surplus http://www.sciplus.com/index.cfm I'm happy that there is one not far from me. JMLB 24
FYI, Active is still around. It's now called Active Tech. There's one here in Calgary and it's in the original location. Nice! I will be in Ottawa next month, will definitely visit the store. The things there are quite over priced and the employees are not very knowledgeable. for example: I asked them if they had any micro controllers they had no idea what I was talking about. After explaining some more and telling them a chip you can program, they tried to sell me this 300$ dev board. I browsed the store though and found they had Basic stamps and freeduino. I only go there if I need something now or if there is a sale going on and I don't bother asking for help finding things.
