pimmel 5
I didn't see any posts on whether or not cygwin was a usable environment. I figured I would give it the college effort and see if I could build up a toolchain that allows me to compile and flash from within my editor of choice (Vim). The basic groundwork is laid out, and I have to say that I really didn't have to do any original work as it was basically all adapted from linux tutorials. If anyone is interested, I wrote up my experience at http://underwaterwhistler.blogspot.com/2013/01/getting-started-with-stellaris-launchpad.html abecedarian, Nuaskessekiny, bluehash and 2 others
pimmel 5
Okay, part two of working within cygwin. I now have a post on building up and using a debugging environment with OpenOCD and gdb. If anyone is interested, the write-up can be found at http://underwaterwhistler.blogspot.com/2013/02/stellaris-cygwin-and-openocd-for.html. Again, this is mostly work of others, based heavily off of support from Spen and Mauro. Enjoy! bluehash and zborgerd
doragasu 0
I'm using GNU tools for Stellaris development, but I don't use Windows. Anyway, it's really nice you took the effort to write a Windows+Cygwin tutorial. I'm sure some devvers will find it useful! Thanks!
zborgerd 62
This is a good tutorial. Cygwin is a good option for some people on Windows. Another option would be to just use a VM like Virtualbox for Ubuntu 12.4 or 12.10, though I don't know how well it would work with the USB device. Alternately, you could probably use the precompiled Windows binaries from here: https://launchpad.net/gcc-arm-embedded I've tried the precompiled Linux version and they seem to be just as suitable as when I've built them with summon-arm.
