I just did a clean installation of CCS6.1 and guess what:

A totally new MSP on the way. I assume a new device rather than just a new LaunchPad, although the video focuses on LaunchPads.

The [extremely sophisticated] benchmarks I have will port easily to MSP432 and STM32L4.  Atmel will be later in the year, but I have low hopes for Atmel, and I might not bother.   Warning: Rant ahea

The part that is clear: MSP-EXP432.

So likely to be MSP432 then? I think MSP stands for Mixed Signal Processor, but does anyone know where the 430 came from?

What we really need is a TI emplyeee who can give us a nice bit of juicy leaked info.

TI registered MSP432 as a trade mark and MSP432.com point to TI.com so that backs up the MSP432 idea.

Avnet and Newark list a XMSP432P401RIPZR (via Octopart - thanks @spirilis) which is obviously not available yet. Listed as available from 4/6/15 for $5.59. I assume that's US format date, so April rather than June. XMS normally marks experimental silicon. The early FR5969 LuanchPad shipped with XMS parts.

The only really interesting bit of info was the fact that Avnet list it as "ULTRA LOW POWER ARM MICRO CONTROLLER". It could be a mistake, but maybe it's something between the MSP430 and Tiva. Or maybe it's a Cortex M7?

Newark / Element 14 has the same description, so probably not a mistake.

My money is on M0/M0+:

- not covered by other TI MCU lines

- illogical for MSP family to have a higher performance core than Tiva

- in line with low-power, low-cost competition
