Simple debug capability through serial in CCS - noob question

Recommended Posts

Hi,

the debug capability of energia via serial interface was for me a very nice feature for testing serial communication.

Does the Code Composer Studio 6.0.1 also has a possibility to use the UART back channel over the USB?

I think the com port is blocked by CCS already, but maybe I'm wrong.

Isn't that just using UART? You can use any serial software for that kind of thing: CoolTerm, Putty, Realterm... In CCS, if you go to Window > Show view > Other, and search for Terminal.

I think you are referring to a separate serial interface via the F5529's native USB? It's not well supported but see the USBSerial example sketch. Might be more trouble than it's worth.

Hi everyone. I have a question to ask about this topic. I have a USB to UART which pin  consists of:-

i. VCC                (DVCC)

ii. TX                  (P1.1)

iii. RX                 (P1.2)

iv. DTR              (RST/NMI/SBWTDIO)

v. RTS               (TEST/SBWTCK)

vi. GND              (DVSS)

I connected to my MSP430F5418A as in the bracket. So, basically I will use UART serial interface in order to program my MSP. I tried to program my MSP by using CCS v6. I selected the family and device type of my MSP and I chose UART as my connection. When I click identify and it there was an error which it can't identify target CPU. How do I fix this so that I can burn and program my MSP? Is it something wrong with my pin connection?
