I can't help myself. I.must.post.off.topic.too. ;)

I harvested a couple ice cream pails of strawberries this past week.

So I made Strawberry Jam. :D

Yum!

I too would like to create an irrigation controller for my garden. I especially want a web server interface so that I can create custom watering schedules.

That's sad.

Anyway.. looks like you are making good progress on your greenhouse. oh..I have an update on my tiny garden... harvested a cucumber today. It tasted awesome in this heat.

I also had a lot of cucumbers and zucchini in my garden this weekend. I made cucumber salad and zucchini bread!

Still waiting on those tomatoes. Maybe next week.

On topic: If anyone is interested, I posted the SimpliciTI BSP for the MSP-EXP430F5529 in the E2E.TI forum. Posted it with simple projects to load on the ez430-rf2500 targets; one for the rx and one for the tx.

I might write up a full tutorial for getting all of the hardware configured and running. (with pictures too!)

TI thanked me last week with a very nice hook up. :shh:

Ok, Ok. TI gave me a full permanent license for CCS. After porting SimpliciTI to the MSP-EXP430F5529, plus my application, I maxed out the 16k license limit. Now I can have full range for all of the processors, which is going to be great because I had also maxed out the code on my evalbot.

They're really a great company -plenty of freebie samples, great deals on hardware, lots of open-source code, regularly sponsored seminars and contests, and the E2E forum.

Hi All,

I just bought EXP430f5529 and I'm running the pre-installed firmware. I am trying to run the "Terminal Echo" demo app, but by default the usb drivers are not working. I downloaded and installed the software 5529UE-1.10.01-Setup.exe and MSP430_USB_Developers_Package-3.0-Installer.exe from TI site and the usb device is not being recognized as a serial comm port. The USB Device is listed in device manager as Virtual Com Port (CDC) and has an exclamation point beside it. Any thoughts how to read and write to the exp board through the usb port?

My operative system is windows 7 64 bit version. I tried with windows xp with the same result.

When I plug my exp430f5529 with LDO jumper set in my PC's USB port, the LCD switches on, but I get an unknown device in device manager.

I tried to plug using ez-Fet usb with the same result of LDO. If I plug my usb in ez-Fet and I switch the power selector to JTAG/BATT the device has been identified, but the demo apps doesn't work as well.

What am I doing wrong?

Massimo

step to reproduce the problem:

* Plug exp430f5529 in LDO USB

* Switch the power selector to LDO

* wait for driver installation

* start "Terminal Echo" demo app

* See in device Manager the Virtual Com Port (CDC) with a yellow exclamation point

You might need to reprogram the board with the U.E. files in 1.10.01-Setup. The pre-programmed system did not work for me. Plug your usb into the ez-fet port and move the switch to the center, labeled EZ. Do you have other ez-fet devices? (launchpad or something) The ez-fet port reports the same way those do as "MSP430 Application UART (COMxx)"

Once you've upgraded the F5529 system, you'll be able to set up the USB BSL for reprogramming via the USB/LDO port by pressing S4 to cycle modes. (PWR->USB->BSL)

BTW, once connected, the default serial terminal application does not seem to work well at all. I believe it's related to changing power modes changing in the different demo applications. The other apps work well, such as the Mouse HID and SD access. For SD access though, you'll need a separate card reader to format the card to get it going.

Hi gwdeveloper,

now I've another problem with MSP-EXP430F5529...I'm not able to updload the code to the board using the bootstrap loaer feature.

I connected my MSP-EXP430f5529 to my USB PC via 5529 USB port (on top right of experimental board)

I switched off my MSP-EXP430f5529

I pressed the S4 button

I switched on my MSP-EXP430f5529 (Power SEL to LDO)

I try to run a script with BLS_Scripter.exe provided by ti site

RX_DATA_BLOCK_FAST are marked as DONE but when I try to run a TX_DATA_BLOCK fails

I've also tried with BSL_USB_GUI but I received "No device connected"

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Massimo
