Fred 453
Just got this from TI. Nice to see they're looking after people who are keen on their kits. Dear valued MSP430 pine, bluehash and tripwire
SixSixSevenSeven 23
its TI, they seem to be the only big corp that care about the little guy pine, abecedarian and spirilis
greeeg 460
The cost of the boards has also gone up too though. It is cool that they're doing this, I'm still under the impression that they intended the original boards to support the energyTrace feature. The new silkscreen is nice too! pine

pabigot 355
Huh. Never got my notification. Mine's the rev 1.6 board with the slashes on the silkscreen.
zeke 693
I've got a rev 2.0 board with an X430FR5969 on it. Is this what needs replacing?
pabigot 355
I would guess a rev 2.0 board is not covered, but you could ask, if you ordered it before June. Fortunately I was able to request a code from the TI folks by sending them my order number from back in February. Good support from the eStore folks.
spirilis 1,265
Rev 2.0 boards don't need replacement from what I understand, just pre-rev 2.0 since those don't have EnergyTrace... and reportedly the MSP Debug Stack is no longer supporting FR5969 launchpads with pre-EnergyTrace eZFETs. Fred 453
Just got my 2.0 board to replace the 1.6 (with the slashes on the rear silkscreen). The onboard ezFET has been updated from 1.0 to "1.2 with Energy Trace" and the micro from X430FR5969 to 430FR5969. It's a bit wider and has a couple of stand-offs too. The earlier revision chip marked X430FR5969 seems to be no longer supported, either by the MSP-FET or even by the onboard ezFET 1.0 once the firmware has been updated. I guess that makes the earlier LP useless unless you feel like replacing the MSP430. If you have an earlier one and want to use it, be careful of updating CCS or your FET. zeke 693
It looks like it's time to order some samples of the new FR5969 device and warm up the hot air tool. Fred
