I'm not sure if this quite counts as "mailbag" as it's a bit big, but this was delivered recently. A nice new workshop for the end of the garden that I'm currently busy kitting out with workbenches, p

I finally got my NFC implant err... implanted. I'm very happy with it. You'll find full details here but if you just want the gory details...

Let's not get into a discussion about religion. I'll get frustrated. You'll get offended. Everyone else will be bored. We believe different things. Let's just leave it at that.

Well, it's not a case of what came in the mail today, but what didn't. TI were great as usual and were happy to send me some FR5969 samples (to replace the deprecated chip on my version 1.6 launchpad and see if I can solder QFN).

However, Fedex have decided to be a pain. I just got a voicemail to say that they need to see my import licence or they'll send them back. WTF?  It got them shipped to my work address as I've done with many things, but my work is nothing to do with electronics. I doubt they have an import licence and I wouldn't want to try to use it anyway.

[update: I explained to Fedex that it was for personal use. No reply, but the samples came through.]

Just received a few MC33814 from Freescale- nice little thing for the EFI project I've been toying with. Supports O2 sensor heater and two injectors / ignition, and a few other outputs and VR sensor input for crankshaft position determination. 5v logic, but that's what translators like the TXB and such are for, right?

Also, a few Freescale MM812JS812 chips- MCU + drivers for a single cylinder engine. May do two of these to run my V2 engine. Not sure if I'll use them- programming may be an issue, but who knows? Need to build the programming interface for these.

Still expecting a few FS Kenetis EA chips; should be here tomorrow or the day after. There is something 'odd' about an ARM M0+ chip running at 5v that begs interest.

In other news, it was dead, for a moment, but there's renewed interest in the EFI project I posted about a while back, using MPC5634M. I think I might need to get a few more LFQP adapters... or at least finish the ESI project first. :D Yeah. Who needs a motorcycle, right?

Yesterday my NFC implant turned up. Still looking for someone to implant it for me. It's tricky to do yourself as you need two hands (and it goes in your hand). My wife's a doctor but refuses to do it as "it's weird, geeky and creepy".

Looking at it reminds me of something i once read in the Bible. maybe you should give it away?

Please do not misunderstand me Fred, I was not referring to religion. I was simply making a comment about a historical writing concerning a future event.

Most people view the Bible as a religious book, and rightly so! However most miss the point that it can also be viewed as a Historical book.

It was not my intention to get into any debate about the issue so i will agree to your last line and just leave it at that.

@@Fred Is your wife convinced now that you're not going to hum and spark at night ?

This week I received my post of the month prize from Fred.

He cut some panel sets for my project which look very nice. The photo doesn't do it justice.

I'll be using these to teach some high school kids where I volunteer as a robotics mentor how to solder.  Hopefully I'll be back later with photos from the lessons.
