bluehash 1,581
Hello all, You will notice an advertisement box after the first post. This is a trial run which will run for a couple of weeks, the ad sizes will change so that it best suits the site. Its google ads for now. If you have any suggestions or criticisms against it, please let us know. Thanks! PS: It will take some time for relevant ads to pop up as adsense needs to crawl the site. zeke 693
If there's any sort of flashy-in-your-face-I-demand-that-you-look-at-me-now! type adverts then I'll be severely upset. Otherwise, they'll just float down into the SNR of the page and I'll be able to ignore them easily. Yes, I'm highly distract-able. Aren't you?
GeekDoc 226
This model works for me. Like Zeke, I really only have a problem with the flashing, "YOU ARE A WINNER!" type ads. The others I'll even click on occasionally.
bluehash 1,581
Some of the google text ads are flashy for the first few seconds.... If that's a sore, we can always switch to text only...right now they are on text+image ads. Thanks for your comments.
gatesphere 45
Hm... interesting. Not sure if I like or dislike.
JMLB 24
If it bring money in to the forum I won't mind it. as long as its not the adds that hilight words and open when you mouse over. I hate those. I don't even read the site

infrared 3
Ads are great and 43oh should not have to ask its visitors and guests about a trial run. Go for it, if the people that come to this site do not know how to keep ads from appearing in their own browsers while visiting this site then maybe they deserve the big flashy in your face ads.... Also, google is really good about targeting to specific demographics (hell if you call it that anymore, more like personal data) so its not like we will be seeing ads about irrelevant crap. GeekDoc 226
...if the people that come to this site do not know how to keep ads from appearing in their own browsers while visiting this site... You realize that if the ad doesn't show, 43oh won't get credit for your visit, right? I block ads on most sites, but the ones I want to support (like this one), I leave the ads alone. Heck, I've even bought some of the stuff.
SugarAddict 227
Adblock has this nice option right on the main plugin menu "Disable on " for sites you want to support.
GeekDoc 226
I see the ad at the top of the board is a direct sponsor, but what do you use for the footer ad? It was odd to have Gabotronics at the top, and a green-dot rifle scope at the bottom! The ads are well-placed; I notice them (which is what ads are for), but they don't detract from my use of the forums.
bluehash 1,581
Thanks for your feedback doc. I use google adsense for the remaining. For some reason, if I change AdPlacements, from bottom of the first post to bottom footer, awkward ads come up - beauty products, dating sites etc... The Adsense bot may needs a few days to go through content to show up relevant ads. Till then, if you need any beauty products..
RobG 1,892
This is much better now, that ad after the first post was throwing me off, couldn't get used to it.
