Alright so, I had to keep a zip on it til now but since it's released... I had early access to one of these (thanks to the TI folks!) and got to play with it a little ahead of time.  I'm going to dump

Did you guys notice TI's selling their new MSP430F5529 USB Launchpad board? I found an old announcement back in 2012 on 43oh main page that TI's working on it but haven't seen any on it being sold. I

If anyone is planning a CC1200 (or CC11xx) booster pack for this, let me know. I'll support it. I've already done considerable work with the EXP-5529 board + CC110x, and I'll happily port to 5529-LP.

Hello guys,

I see this link http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/EZ-FET_lite says that eZ-FET Lite "Supports all MSP430 devices". So we will have a real debugger support all MSP430 devices like FET-UIF with a relative low-cost (ofcourse without premium function like fuse blow-up), right?

My impression is that is correct.  Should receive firmware updates from the DLL too.  It's "lite" because it doesn't have the premium features like JTAG blow (although isn't that flash-based nowadays with the F5xxx and FR5xxx series?) and adjustable Vcc voltage.

Welcome to 43oh!A good question. Should be, although there is no comparison that I can find anywhere.

Was this the "Sept 16th gamechanger" then?

The stock levels in the TI eStore just went from "backorder available" to "Limited stock available. Delivery may be delayed up to 6 weeks." so I just ordered one. If you want one I suggest you're quick about it.

I'm guessing no, so there's probably something else coming sept 16 but I don't really know.

Interesting, I don't really need premium features, I just want a student-affordable debugger to help me deal with more powerful chips than those in valueline.

I'm a silent reader . Visit the forum everyday especially in compiler section (look for info about new gcc port) and the blog :) .

Gotcha... Fwiw, many of us have used the v1.5 LaunchPad with the higher-end chips but I understand certain features aren't supported (think multiple breakpoints get broken) so this should clear that up.  It only does SBW of course, not 4-wire JTAG like the FET430UIF (so I guess, technically, it doesn't support "ALL" MSP430 devices right?) but I think most of the modern chips that are worth the bother have SBW.

So much has been already said...

I tested the new LaunchPad with the BoosterPacks and libraries available for the former MSP430 LaunchPad and the Stellaris LaunchPad.

I only had to change the name of the pins. The library for RobG's 2.2 LCD screen worked on the first test.

However, for some BoosterPacks, I faced compatibility issues. For example, the Educational BoosterPack requires an analog input in pin 5, available on the MSP430G2553 but not on the new MSP430F5529. Same for the Kentec 3.5" LCD BoosterPack.

I'm adding the pins map for Energia and an updated release of embedXcode.

embedXcode will support the new LaunchPad once Energia 10

It is clear, it says right there on the board "USB Hub"

You mean "One USB connection for emulator and target via the use of an onboard USB hub"? I thought that meant they ditched the composite device setup for debugging and serial for a two usb devices under a usb hub, which would get rid of any issues of needed custom drivers for the serial connection.
