guipoletto 1
Looks like wether you can buy a spare programming clip, or a development kit (The one TI is selling, i believe), and than be granted a full ccs license to code for your watch!! Neat!!It sounds like you should E-mail them at ccs@metawatch.org, and they will license you. until there you can use the 90 days evaluation time.. Thanks @@BRey for the tip, haven't seen that on the metawatch forums!!Until now, i believed it would be the same headache as the Chronos, with the 16k and the precompiled packages.. GastonP 17
What's special about this one (IMO) is that it's the only surviving analog-digital combination for smart-watches. Yes you have more versatility with all digital, yes you can simulate an analog on an all digital... I like the "real analog"-digital combination, in spite of it being an outdated 1st. gen... pine
BRey 22
Ordered this morning, shipped this afternoon, 2 day Fedex. I don't know why they pay premium shipping on a promo, but I like it.
GastonP 17
why can't ship in asia. @@. Export regulations. Probably related to certifications or worse, North Korea related limitations. Back when the USSR were the bad guys, there was a huge list of countries suspected of acting proxy to pass them technology that were forbidden to be sold certain kind of material... and not so far in the past, technology which used DES 128 bit encryption was forbidden to be exported out of the US. Only 40 bit strength DES was allowed.
jampl 1
Did anybody receive the Chronos via the BTS yet? And did it ship as "white" or as "black" version? I understood that the white is the actual one, but pictures still show black boards. Also ti's product pages sais "CC1111 USB RF access point" which as far as I know is installed on the black PCB ? BRey 22
Received the watch today. It is still on the charger, but I have it paired to my phone already. Also received the CCS key today via e-mail. So far it looks like a great deal.
guipoletto 1
Who'd you e-mailed? still no response from metawatch
BRey 22
I found this in the Github project description: "...The CCS IDE is available for FREE to all Meta Watch users that purchased a WDS11x development system or a development clip for STRATA or FRAME. Until there is a special download site, just get the 30 evaluation version and email ccs@metawatch.org when you need your license upgraded." When I sent the note I included the fact that I have been using CCS for some time so the 30 day evaluation period isn't valid. I was surprised at the quick response, there are notes in the metawatch forums about multiple week waits. GeekDoc and bluehash
GeekDoc 226
I think I got a lemon. Got my watch yesterday and tried to play with it, but it vibrated and said "low battery", so I put it on the clip with a cell-phone charger for about 6 hours. I pushed the top button with the clip still on, and it said the battery was full, so I took the clip off. I pushed each of the buttons with no response. I put the clip on, and it said "0.0v". Seems to me that the battery isn't connected properly. I'm going to see about a warranty return today.

I might be wrong but since the analog + digital version seems to be much less popular than the fully digital version, there might be a chance that they have a lot of leftover inventory for the analog version? If that assumption is right, these watches might be manufactured and stored for quite a while and the batteries might be over-discharged (and therefore causing damage to the battery) due to standby power and self-discharge? I had li-ions that are over discharged and then refuse to retain energy when being charged. The voltage may rise to above 3V+ while on the charger and drop quickly back to zero volts once removed. Not accusing TI or Metawatch in anyway. Not sure am I even making sense. Just letting my mind wondering around as usual. Any indication of manufacture date? Edit/Add on: With the small capacity of the cell (~70mAh I think?), every bit of standby current matters even more?
GeekDoc 226
@@PenguinInfinity : This is definitely old stock; I believe the model is discontinued in favor of the full digital version(s). It's actually pretty hard to find info/software/support on the analog+digital version. Let's hope all the batteries haven't gone bad! PenguinInfinity

Have been really hoping to make an OLED watch (offline version first). I also read that the bluetooth stack for the CC2560 is not open source?

Is it valid only for Metawatch development or is it a regular CCS license with no restrictions?
