WS2812B LEDs

Recommended Posts

Not a big difference, if any (they do look brighter on the picture, but I guess it's because the strip is black.)

Looks like blue and green LEDs are different and they do seem just a bit brighter (at 3.6V blue and green, at 5V only green.)

Then again, my eyes are pretty tired in the evening, especially after playing with strips for couple of hours

the 30 / 60 LEDs / m in your post versus the 15 / 30 LEDs / m on the Tindie page had me confused for a bit. Anyway, I want to play with these, so I ordered a couple.

The WS2812 use 5 of the 6 pins (one of them is disconnected), and 2 of them are for Vdd. The WS2812B has 4 pins, so it's a little simpler. They're essentially the same chip, although according to my spec sheets, the 'protocol' timing is a little different, but the same library should be able to be used for both.

Well, looks like after small run, WS2812D are discontinued.

Too bad, they were perfect for making LED cubes.

Noooooo. I was going to use them to do exactly that as a future project!!! :'(

Any indication as to why they were discontinued? They seem like a good idea.
