kenyee 5
The RM42 and TMS570 launchpads seem about the same except the RM42 has a bit faster clock speed. But only 32K of RAM? Stellaris looks more interesting... :-P
spirilis 1,265
Side note, these chips are starting to look more like the Renesas RX (RX600-series) architecture to me than the Tiva ever did. Especially since the family does include Ethernet, USB and CAN in its various lineups.

spirilis 1,265
Note the system diagram for both of them -- http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/arm/hercules_arm_cortex_r_safety_microcontrollers/arm_cortex_r4/rm4_arm_cortex_r4/overview.page -- SDRAM EMIF, external memory interface! Sweet. I don't think the LaunchPad's chip has this though, need the LQFP-144 version (RM46L852) with 1.25MB flash/192KB SRAM to see that one.
spirilis 1,265
Eh, another thing to note is no FPU on these LaunchPads' chips. There are Cortex-R4F chips available in both TMS570 and RM4 series though.

Grrr...would have been happy to pay another $10-15 to have one w/ expandable memory :-P That's definitely something the Stellaris never had and I griped to them about that... Fred 453
It's about time for a new TIDeals So you're going to celebrate the new LaunchPads by getting yourself a Chronos watch? pine, dubnet and GastonP
Druzyek 36
An external memory interface is really nice. Will this LaunchPad have a chip shortage too so that we can't make our own boards?
