calin 4
Oddly enough , not sure but did TI's samples policy changed lately? I probably order some samples maybe 3-4 times in a year but for example this year I've put my second only order and it got rejected - no company mail ... bla bla .... Also I noticed that now you have to list a company name no matters what when I place an order. I am not complaining don't get me wrong but I was seeing TI as one of the few electronics company that had an reasonable approach to chip samples ... did they really go on the "cheap side" ?!!! rockets4kids 204
TI reduced quantity limits from five to two last year and and blacklisted public email domains (gmail, yahoo, etc) earlier this year. I have only placed one sample order this year, but I am not aware of any further restrictions. The number of people abusing the samples programs have been getting out of hand in recent years and all manufacturers have been forced to get more strict with their samples program. cde 334
You have to put "Independent Designer", unless you work for a big company or something. The 5 items, y number per items depending on which category they decided you are is still the same for two three years now (for example, 2 limit of any individual microcontroller, 5 for some individual regulators, 1 of any regulator module, etc if you are an independent designer/regular student). It used to be 8 quantity of any 8 parts, but that was years ago. calin and GeekDoc
calin 4
Ok I did that .. let's see.
Druzyek 36
I was able to order samples from TI for the first time around 3 weeks ago without any problems. I put the name of the school I work at as a teacher as my business and they accepted it. The microcontrollers were limited to two but the CC2xxx (don't remember exactly which ones I requested) Zigbee chips were limited to five. I hope it works out for you. Rei Vilo 695
I wanted to get samples of the L293D and my request was rejected. The explanation I received is: From the beginning of 2013 we do not send out any samples anymore for customer that does not have these characters: 1- Company Email address 2- Company URL 3- Project information If you don
GeekDoc 226
STEP 1: Get a domain (with email) to host your project ramblings (don't forget to link here!) STEP 2: Tell TI something about what you're trying to build STEP 3: Samples! Has worked for me every time I've needed something. gsutton and spirilis
rockets4kids 204
If you are looking for an inexpensive web host with email forwarding, consider this one: https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/ I have not used them personally (I use my university account) but have heard good things from people who do. calin 4
Oh right, i used my same address and same gmail mail address I used before. But I listed as "Independent Designer" as company and None as company URL. This time the order was given the OK and shows up completed and shipped. I don't mind they limted the number of samples - if I fry 2 or 3 or 5 chips they provide as samples then shame on me Thanks guys.. valuable info as always !!! PS: Probably I should take the time to set that damn domain I have with GoDaddy .... but pool side life is too nice now in summer
cde 334
Yea, the Independent Designer thing happened to me. Same account for years, last time I used it was 2010 or 2011, and they denied it, actually telling me to put in Independent Designer. Which is weird, because you know, I have my own domain, and I could be a small engineering company with an actual business license, but eh. Resubmitted with that single change, and it went through. I do regret not getting some samples from National before they got integrated into the TI sample system though. So much more lenient.
chibiace 46
i get asked for a justification for shipping outside the US as well as requiring a company email address.
canibalimao 2
Last week I asked them for a couple of MCU's samples and they didn't ask me any questions. I'm using my university e-mail account.
Fred 453
I've never had any problems and recently received some samples using my gmail account. Maybe it helps that I've also purchased a fair few items from the store using the same account.
