Tutorials for GAS and GCC on Ubuntu

Recommended Posts

When I started my development efforts on the Launchpad, I wanted to try using the GNU toolset instead of the TI toolset. More specifically, I was interested in using the GNU assembler without GCC and/or inline assembly. It turned out that this was a bit more complicated than I had hoped to get it up and running. Also, a lot of the tutorials I found were quite old and started with compiling your own toolchain, which isn't necessary nowadays when they are included as packages in Ubuntu.

So, I wrote a set of tutorials on GNU toolchain installation / GCC / GAS that hopefully can help someone. They assume familiarity with C and assembly, so they might not be the best place to start for the absolute beginner.
