 not 100% sure but it looks like permission issues.

if u are not root. u can sudo. or add a udev rule to give non-root permissions.

you should add a rules file in /etc/udev/rules.d, i called my 46-TI_launchpad.rules. (do this when u are root)

chrisc@chrisc-AO752 /etc/udev/rules.d $ ls -l
total 16
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   80 May 14 23:10 46-TI_launchpad.rules
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  685 May 17 19:12 70-persistent-cd.rules
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  462 May 13 16:32 70-persistent-net.rules
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1157 Oct 11  2012 README
chrisc@chrisc-AO752 /etc/udev/rules.d $ cat 46-TI_launchpad.rules
ATTRS{idVendor}=="0451", ATTRS{idProduct}=="f432", MODE="0660", GROUP="plugdev"

Sorry, I don't know anything about Energia. But I wanted to add a small comment that by installing the mspdebug Ubuntu package (that may or may not be used by Energia, I have no idea), you should get this rule automatically. At least this works for 12.10 and 13.04.

mattias@gamma:~$ dpkg -L mspdebug
