Ethernet - DMX Booster Pack

Recommended Posts

Ethernet - DMX Booster Pack.

Uses WIZ820io on the Ethernet side and SN65HVD12 on the RS-485 side.

XLR or RJ45 socket can be used.

Compatible with MSP430, Stellaris, C2K, and Tiva LaunchPads.

Will provide e1.31 example later on.

If interested in a standalone version, I will have 2 and 4 universe versions very soon.
4 universe version will have Ethernet, XBee, and MIDI inputs.

Simple controller, HTTP -> DMX.

Channels can be set with URL parameters (by hand or from the script.)

u - set the universe, in this example 0 or 1

c - start channel number, 0 to 63 (this is limited because my code example runs on 2553, which has only 512 bytes of RAM,) number can be decimal or hex (0xFF or 0xff)

v - stream of hex pairs representing channels starting with start channel

Each request returns full dump of DMX memory.

On F54xx boards, number of universes will be 2 or 4 and number of channels per universe 512.

I think you could count the channels until the part you wish to send, this way you can send on a starting channel of your choice, since you won't need memory for the "unused" channels.

This would be true if I was receiving DMX. When sending, I have to start with channel 1 and repeat every few ms.

However, I totally forgot about one new important feature of W5500, I can use it's memory for anything I want.

I will try to rewrite my code to do just that, store all DMX data in one of W5500's buffers.
