Just had this via email from TI. I'm sure they'd be happy for me to pass it on. The big question is - what comes in TSSOP24 (apart from the AFE2xx mentioned)? I've mostly seen 20 or 28. I'm sure somebody will point out loads so I'm off to search now...

Hi everyone!  I just wanted to let you know that we have another great deal available today in the TI eStore.  For a limited time, we

Can those be used with the g2553 20pin tssop?

That's about the only think I might use one for. Not sure I'd go for a 24 but a 28 might be worth it. Also got the following update:

Hi folks.  I sent out an email earlier about the deal we

Even if it did fit TSSOP-20, is there any guarantee the JTAG pins are hooked up correctly?  I think this is just for the AFE chip similar to the L092 deal they did recently which only works with L092's (bought one of those, haha, probably the most frivolous one I've done yet, maybe I will play with those some day but the complexity of integrating an L092 circuit makes me less likely to bother...)

This kit comes with an AFE chip too.  They're meant for power metering, the SD24 (24-bit sigma-delta ADC) onboard has constraints that only really make sense in the context of directly measuring AC mains current & voltage.

Really though if you were designing an intelligent AC power strip or other circuit switching product, this would be a cool chip to incorporate (do relay or triac switching AND measure its power draw...)

The AFE2xx has vcc/vss/aref on Pin 5/6/7 (with decoupling caps), and reset on pin 11 (with the resistor/cap). Physically, it uses a OTS 24(28)-065-02-00 socket, which is the enplas TSSOP 0.65mm pitch for 24 pins (fits 28 physical pins?).

The Jtag or jumpers are not pinout compatible with the Valueline series, but the long headers are. It's alright if you need a tssop zif socket to DIP/Breadboard adaptor.
