Mouser has them at a good price but shipping rate to Viet-Nam is above 40 USD and make the real cost double. Actually, buying LaunchPad from TI with Fedex shipping included is far cheaper since Fedex even paid for the customs on my last order (around 6$ tax for 15 LaunchPad boards). However, for some reason I would like to buy bare chips if possible... Do someone know a place where they sell them with a more realist shipping cost (around 10$) ? Thanks for your help. senso 0 Posted January 11, 2013 Share Posted January 11, 2013 At such low quantities you will always be gouged for high shipping prices, if you can do a group order with a couple friends and get the total over 75$ at Mouser they offer free shipping and they pay the customs(in Europe they offer that), migh be the cheapest option that you have. Hi cde, Thanks for your suggestion, but as you may have not noticed I live in Vietnam, and even if my city counts 1M inhabitants it's oriented toward agriculture. We have only 2 local electronic shops and they stock only parts for repairing audio amps or DVD players... The only "local" is located in Saigon and it's a full day trip. Hi, I tried at first but this vendor require you to give all your personal details including underwear's color just to have the shipping cost. This is a really aggressive manner as far as I am concerned. Since you seem to suggest they have fair shipping cost I tried but they ship via FeDeX and it's 55$ shipping for 10$ parts... Yan. I have asked samples from TI many times however : - I though some parts like the MSP430G were not available as samples - asking many times for the same sample should not be possible but I never tried... I find they (and most companies) are more open to sampling non-dip package chips. I think they figure an actual developer will be spinning test boards with SMD's while hobbiests will be favoring PDIPs. If I remember right, you can sample up to 5 different types of part from TI, but the actual quantity of each is limited to 2 or 3 depending on what it is. PM me if you are interested. Also, this applies for anyone else! You seem to have a reasonable amount of posts here, and don't seem like a scammer, but I would suggest sending one chip first to find out exactly how long it takes without much risk. Yes, "shady" requests will get you blacklisted. I remember when TI let you sample 8 parts, 5 each. Back in the day. 3 years ago or so. I think it's still 8 "line items" (part numbers), but the quantity allowed varies by part number. uCs are usually limited to 2, but things like Vregs are often limited to 8.
