memsom 0
Are the drivers installed? I had this under Windows with the Stellarpad. My device had the wrong factory installed firmware and I had to speak to TI to resolve the issue. None of the drivers installed till I reflashed the correct firmware provided by a TI forum rep. No idea if that helps you, but before the ICDI drivers were installed, I had a greyed out "serial" selection.

memsom 0
If your device does need re flashing, it takes about 10 minutes tops. You need to speak to TI though. This link is to the thread on the forums : http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/stellaris_arm_cortex-m3_microcontroller/f/471/t/222834.aspx If that sounds like your issue, post and TI will help you out.
