Mard 0
I have tested MSP430 LaunchPad to successfully program MSP430F5310, MSP430F5418 and MSP430F5438 over SBW!! I have tested Launchpad with MSP430F5529 and with no success :-( I will try it again with info form your blog. I will report the result.
roadrunner84 466
I have the male pin headers soldered on the launchpad (and use the female headers on shields). As the TEST, SBW and GND pins are all on the same side of the launchpad, the only missing pin (unless using external power) is VCC. However, the VCC/GND/GND pins are in line with that side of the breakout pins. I use a DIP28 socket upside down to connect it to a breadboard. I have wires soldered to the socket. This way I can connect/disconnect my launchpad from the breadboard in a single action.
mbeals 74
Quick question. In my design, I've omitted R6 and D4 with the RST line just running to an ICSP header (where SW1 is). That design was based on some reference designs and the launchpad itself. I haven't had any issues programming or debugging so far, but is it advisable to have these two extra components...or is that just to debounce the button?
roadrunner84 466
I'm not really sure what you mean, but if you use the reset line for programming, the capacitor should not exceed 2.2nF (that is nano, not micro). Also, the recommended pull up resistor is 47k, but 33k might just work as well. R6 should be 0 ohms (or a shortcut) and D4 should not be placed. mbeals
mbeals 74
R6 should be 0 ohms (or a shortcut) and D4 should not be placed. That's what I was wondering. That's how I have mine set up with a 1nF C20 and 47k R5.
nemetila 12
I have tested LaunchPad (v1.5) to successfully program MSP430F5438A (MSP-EXP430F5438 board) via SBW. I used FET-Pro430 Lite Software (v3.06) for programming.

roadrunner84 466
Why don't you edit your response instead of writing single line posts?
abecedarian 330
Why don't you edit your response instead of writing single line posts? Some people think that if they 'flood' a forum with posts they'll get more attention. Reality is most people consider that annoying and will ignore that person's messages. What would be more appropriate is one post somewhere describing the intent, the actions taken, and the question. Some people, @@Sathyashree, apparently don't understand that's how conversations work.

Sathyashree 0
Ya, I'm new to this and I don't have much knowledge but I will correct myself, anyway, I thank god to have found such an active blog with people having helping tendency and knowledge seekers... Anyway, I'm happy that I belong here. I'm a beginner and have just started my voyage to MSP 430 EXP-G2, continuing from my basics. If any queries on my way, I shall contact you all, right? That is alright. This is probably new to you and you got exited. I have issued a warning point on your profile. That was before I saw your above message. Don't worry about it too much. atdt 2
Does anybody know how I can do the same thing with the msp432?
atdt 2
Of course, right after I posted this I found that you need SWDIOTMS (pin 94) and SWCLKTCK (pin 95) to program the msp432. Hope this can help somebody else too! bluehash
