[Call for Designs] CC3000 WiFi BoosterPack

Recommended Posts

TI actually has a boosterpack design today.  BoosterPacks are orderable on ti.com, and here is link to where the design is - http://www.ti.com/product/cc3000#doctype6

I also saw a couple comments about various MCUs - CC3000 is portable and we have doumentation on porting available (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC3000_Host_Driver_Porting_Guide).  The main MCU where our sample code is on TI's MSP430 FRAM.

Would anyone in the community be interested in building an Energia library for CC3000?

Thanks

Dana

Thanks for chiming in Dana and welcome to 43oh!

Do you have the files available in Eagle or Kicad or a freely available editor.

An exciting boosterpack! Just tried to order one but it looks like it is out of stock right not and is not available to the region I live (Asia / Hong Kong).. So could we expect that in the near future this restriction be lifted please?

Bumping this back up because it seems there are a few CC3000MODs scattered across a few distributors, and I'm hoping to rekindle some discussion on the Boosterpack/Energia libraries

TI's boosterpack still isn't available, though I got my sample module a couple weeks back.. and I think I saw TI has the design files online. Perhaps we can print a few?

Also just generally, what do the Murata and LSR modules actually add beyond the reference design? I'm just trying to figure out where the $40 price hike comes from.

The CC3000 BoosterPack will be broadly available through the TI eStore and distributors soon, and can currently be ordered today through Mouser: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Texas-Instruments/CC3000BOOST/?qs=%2fha2pyFaduhq6Gd3DGQQ01opEep6faLKKm06y%2fghkiDYTlElZ2ZxYA%3d%3d

As for the difference in module prices, LSR and Murata offer further design and product development services as compared to TI's self-service tools and example applications, and community forum support.

TI is finally releasing theirs for $35:

https://estore.ti.com/CC3000BOOST-CC3000-BoosterPack-P4258.aspx?DCMP=ecs-cc3000boost&HQS=ecs-cc3000boost-pr-sm2

As a side note, there are 2 bundle options where you can get this + MSP430 LaunchPad for $41 or this + Tiva C LaunchPad for $44.  Drops the price a few bucks for each.
