roadrunner84 466
Funny I'm missing the option for a crystal on the board though (might someone want accurate timing)
cubeberg 540
I'm looking @ crystal options. I need to find something hand-solderable. Any suggestions? Most smd crystals don't have exposed leads. Tssop isn't too bad - I've got some samples- they're pretty tiny. Definitely lots of room for other stuff still, although autoroute is having a hell of a time. Had to add a bunch of GND vias already.

cubeberg 540
I've been looking for something like this, but in a 32.768 (can't find one) - although the micro-crystal that the LP comes with would probably be smaller - I may just go with that. After the issues with inductors with Tayda last time - I'm going to stay away from designing boards around their parts
chibiace 46
perhaps the 2x6mm smd radial with longer leads?

cubeberg 540
Yep - or a microcrystal like the LP comes with - http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/CMJ206T-32.768KDZF-UT/300-8663-1-ND/1278766 It's probably about the same footprint

cubeberg 540
BTW - I realize this is pretty much the same form factor as other boards of this type - any suggestions on alternate board or pad shapes?
cde 334
Instead of a flower/circle, how about a atom geometric shape? Anything without hard pointy edges. Though, I don't know what an odd shape like that would cost in routing larsie
cubeberg 540
I like the atom shape - looks pretty good! Thankfully - Seeed allows odd board shapes. The plugin boards for my VFD clock project were a pretty strange shape - didn't have any complaints after two batches. That got me thinking - I did overlook the obvious Rocket shape as well - although it's a little pointy. I could round off any edges pretty easily though.
cubeberg 540
Anybody have a good part for a JST connector? I've honestly never used one. Maybe I should look for a shrouded male header instead? Not sure if a 2.54MM pitch is correct or if JST connectors are smaller (2mm?).
abecedarian 330
May be a dumb thought, but what about using "buttons" or "snaps" for the programming connections? You know, like what the ESD wrist straps use to wrap around your wrist or connect to the chassis?
