cde 334
Retarded question: $0.20 each single LED unit? Yes, for the individual led option, 20 cents per led (each is a rgb led with builtin controller). For the tape/reel version, It is sold by the meter, has 60 leds per meter, so cost breaks down to 25 cents per led (minimum 1 meter, $15 dollars, unless Rob or bluehash are okay with smaller cuts). Nice thing is, unlike the first magic rgb strips that came out last year, these have one rgb led per controller, instead of per two, and the controller is super tiny embedded in the led. And really, in small quantities, it's cheaper than the individual rgb leds on ebay. --- ws2811 data sheet: http://auschristmaslighting.com/wiki_so ... WS2811.pdf These act like 1-wire devices, instead of other types of led controllers (using data and clock lines, more like spi) Additionally, these are not addressable. Unlike some (like the GE light strings, which self assign an id on startup, acting like i2c), these are cascading, like shift registers. You pump data down the line. --- Finally, what I was saying about weaving the strip version, which would give a nice and tight led matrix without having to individually desolder and resolder the leds, but would make it have a weird placement of the pixels (logically). Instead of a cascading 1, 2, 3, 4 (next row) 5, 6, 7, 8 (next, etc), it would be 1, 11, 2, 15 (next row) 9, 3, 13, 4 Kinda complicated digital placement in order to make it easier to physically set up (and gets worse digitally as the matrix increases). It was a weird though, I need sleep. bluehash and oPossum
RobG 1,892
Seller listed the item ( I guess he doesn't have them in stock yet so he ripped one off the strip ) One thing I am not sure is how well will those work @ 3.6V. If you don't care, I can just order them, or I can wait till I get my strip and then decide.

GeekDoc 226
That listing shows them as $0.15/pc. At that price I'd go for 200. Ah, but adding the $20 shipping in the listing puts them at $0.35/pc. Considering that I usually get EXTREMELY cheap or free shipping from China, I'd say he's making at least some of his profit in that listing off of the shipping price. RobG 1,892
I will buy 5 lots, 500pcs, which comes up to ~$100 with s/h & fees, $0.20/pcs. BTW, looks like the other guy lowered his price to match Ray's.
SugarAddict 227
20/500 = 0.04 shipping per part... Get me another 100? That would be 600 total? $0.034 shipping per part That would be $36.80 (+s&h from you to me) for my 200...
GeekDoc 226
20/500 = 0.04 shipping per part... Shipping goes up with each lot. Click the little calculator after you enter the quantity and it will give the total with shipping.

RobG 1,892
It depends on the seller, Ray's shipping is flat.
