nuetron 64
How about a sub-forum for displays? There are dozens of different threads, wouldn't it be nice to find them all in one spot?
bluehash 1,581
Not sure if this is a good idea. The forum may become very fragmented. People may also start asking forums for other sections such as radios. nuetron
cde 334
LCD projects are very popular. Radios, not so much. I was thinking on suggesting the same thing.
oPossum 1,083
I have seen many forums with 30+ categories and almost everything ends up in "General" because it is unclear what sub-fourm would be best. I recently posted code for using the internal temperature sensor. It showed the temperature on an LCD. So it could go in Projects, LCDs, Code Vault, or General. What would be best? It put it in Code Vault because the emphasis was on code to scale the ADC reading to a Temperature in real units. The sample code and use of an LCD was incidental. nuetron 64
I was thinking it would be for threads that have their main focus on the display, not just a project that happens to have an LCD in it. Opossum's nokia C++ template, or rob's Nokia Color LCD graphics library, or even LCD 16x2 in 4 bit mode. Not that we really need it. More complications means more can go wrong. CptanPanic 5
A good way to solve this is with tags. That way you can just tag a post with 'Displays', and then you can easily browse all of the posts with this topic. Maybe the forum can add this feature? nuetron, GastonP, tripwire and 1 other

If the LCD is the main part of the project or what needs help with, it would go into the LCD section. Incidental use would not. Things like I can't x lcd to work, or does anyone know the pinout of this obscure lcd, or hey, new library for hd2xxxx compatible lcds!
oPossum 1,083
The point I was trying to make is that if someone has to decide which of may sub-forums would be best, they will just dump it in general. It is often not clear what the dominant characteristic is. It ends up being self defeating. Sometimes you also get "I didn't know where to post this, so I will spam 6 sub-forums with the same question." GeekDoc
