New to MSP430, which IDE should I use?

Recommended Posts

Real vi or vim? Bit of a difference there! ;-)

I'm a fan of using whatever gets the job done. Personally, for me, that's Emacs. I've been using Emacs as an IDE for nearly 25 years now. I started using Emacs in 1987 and learned makefiles and in-editor compilation in 1988. I've been watching stand-alone IDEs play catch-up ever since. Eclipse -- when used for Java development -- is one of the few that actually gets my interest. The language and documentation support is great. But I really hate Java. Likewise, Xcode is also a win for Objective C development, and Obj-C is one of the few OO languages in the C style I don't hate. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either.

But for anything else, I just can't give up the feature I have come to expect in Emacs. (Thank god that OS X has largely adopted the Emacs keybindings in its text windows.)

Anyone working with real vi these days is really hardcore :-)

Are you saying that you don't use a cave wall and charcoal from the fire?!?!?
