Overhead transparencies as solder stencils?

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know if it's possible to use an overhead transparency as a solder stencil? The transparent plastic stuff we can use to when exposing the PCB with UV. Ink-jet type...

The holes would need to be made with a drill. I've tried it, and it's obviously possible to make small holes. With a CNC I guess it could be really accurate, but I'm thinking it might be ok to do manually also? Thoughts? Maybe not for really small pitch components...

Pololu have these in Mylar plastic, with holes made with a laser cutter.
