RobG 1,892
Looks like we have to be more careful with the silk screen layer. The dark spots on the paint are metallic residue. Now think what would happen if your artwork was very close to some line voltage pins. This board was made at Seeed and there are other boards with similar issue. Just FYI. bluehash and GeekDoc
bluehash 1,581
Good to know. I'll check my OLED boards when I get home.
MattTheGeek 99
Seems like they don't do silkscreen clipping... I might stay away from them...
Rickta59 589
Could it be that solder rubbed off another board during shipping? -rick
zeke 693
Could also be the silkscreen ink being abused by the HASL process. It might mean that the silk ink is substandard. Could you live with ENIG instead of HASL? What voltage will this board see? 120VAC? It might not matter until it flashes over or until a solder bridge makes the gap even closer. username 198
Very interesting issue! I just ordered from them about a month ago and had no issue such as this. Will keep my eyes out from now on though. Thanks for posting.
