gordon 229
(OK, I have no idea where to put this. BH, feel free to move it around.) Continuing from viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1348&start=40#p11369 This is the final version; I don't think it can be made any better as well as generic at the same time. All variants verified against the TI LaunchPad Eagle files. Thanks to SugarAddict for the corrections. Pro tip: make your References layer yellow (or any other unused bright color) while placing your components. MattTheGeek 99
g0rdon, Thanks for creating this. Saved me from making a few huge mistakes in booster pack size.
reagle 7
Has anybody made something like this in DipTrace yet? I am about to embark on a new shield project and I use DipTrace.
bluehash 1,581
Unlikely, most of it's done in Eagle.
reagle 7
I guess I'll make one- will model it after the Eagle version if the author is OK with that?
bluehash 1,581
Sure, go ahed.
gordon 229
By all means, please do.
cubeberg 540
I'm trying to use these for a new BP, but the size doesn't seem quite right. The dimension doesn't start at 0,0, and the board is just under 50mm on one side, and just over on another. I'm using eagle 6 - is this just a conversion issue or something? This is my first board, so I'm really new at this.
gordon 229
I did them with Eagle 5 -- still have not switched, so I don't know about conversion issues. The size is definitely under 50mm on all sides (Seeed is pretty anal about that). Where the dimension starts doesn't really matter as long as the sides it encloses is smaller than 50mm on both sides (which it is).
bluehash 1,581
Mine converted fine. I'm at 6. Just print it at 1:1 and verify it on paper.
cubeberg 540
This is what I see when I'm laying out the board. The dimension layer is in pink. The layer that's snapped to the grid is a 50mm x 50mm square.
gordon 229
It also starts somewhat above the origin. IIRC that's because that's how the usual 100mil grid works out best on the board.
cubeberg 540
Wait - how are you laying out a 2cm x 2cm board dimension using mils? Am I overthinking this? Should I just use the dimension layer from the part and see how it goes? Sorry for all the questions - I can pull this into another thread if it would be helpful. gordon 229
Switch the grid unit to cm, draw dimension lines, switch back to mils. This is already done with the booster pack package, you only have to deal with mils when placing your components. Just stay inside the dimensions. If this is not the answer, by now I have no idea what the question actually is .
