bluehash 1,581
Hello, Could anyone recommend an RTC that you have worked on and comfortable with. I can take from there to look at others. I need it for a clock and do not want to depend on the MSP430 internals. Thanks!
gordon 229
Haven't worked with them yet (they are on the shortlist though), the popular ones are DS1307 (more of Dallas' selection) and the Philips ones. bluehash
AaronInSpace 4
I have worked a bit with the NXP PCA8565 (http://www.nxp.com/documents/data_sheet/PCA8565.pdf) and it works nicely. Has everything I would want from one, but I have never used the timer or alarm side of it. Just the timekeeping portion. Works over I2C. bluehash
nuetron 64
I've had good results with the DS12887A. 8-bit parallel, two bus modes (intel or motorola, intel is the standard memory chip I/O, motorola works just like HD44780), NV ram, binary or BCD data format, and several other features. bluehash
