bluehash 1,581
Hello Everyone, Thanks for being patient while the forums were being fixed and upgraded. One Friday morning(March 10th, 2017), the server went down. There was a memory issue, which stalled the SQL server and everything came to halt. it had been fixed by Friday night, but then went down again due to a mistake I made during the bringup. In the mean time, I also decided to try to upgrade the server(php and peripheral updates) as well as the forum software. I'm going to see how things plan out in the next couple of days. Any issues you see with the site, please reply to this thread. Thanks! zeke, tripwire, NurseBob and 1 other

Check Rick's for reference. page loads are slower than pre-forum upgrade. At least 5 more seconds to load. @ mentions from pre-forum upgrade converted as @username@. I'm leaving this as is. There is no ssl cert on the server yet. I plan to get one from Lets Encrypt.
Rickta59 589
I'm not sure if this matters. The content count seems to have jumped for me. The other day I hit 1001 posts, it caught my eyes as I hadn't realized how much time I've killed here : ) ... Now my content posts shows 1050, I suppose 1051 after I post this. -rick

There are background processes still running which takes a few days, depending on forum traffic. I'll give it a few days to settle down. Thanks!
Rickta59 589
My point was that I gained 49 posts. 1001+49 = 1050
bluehash 1,581
Weird. Added to issue list on the second post.
chicken 630
On the profile page it is labeled as "content count". Maybe "posts" includes status updates and other content.

Tried accessing from the shop machine today. I am surprised I haven't noticed before, but, then again, the shop machine has all of three bookmarks in the browser, since it is generally used only for the shop gear. bluehash
NurseBob 111
@bluehash Thank you for the hard work. I've had enough experience with running sites to know how time-consuming, and frustratiing, it can be. Bob bluehash
Rei Vilo 695
@bluehash Congatulations for the new website! I like the look-and-feel. One comment: the new website seems slower than the previous one. Downloading a page takes more time. I don't know whether the pages are heavier with the new website or whether the connection is slower.
bluehash 1,581
Hi @Rei Vilo Thank you. Yes, it is definitely slower. I working with support to see what the issue is. There are still some background processes running, caching and rebuilding posts.
yyrkoon 250
Definitely a lot slower. I'm sitting on a 9/3 Mbit connection, and sometimes I have to refresh the page for a post to take. Keep in mind when I say "sometimes" I've made two posts since the upgrade, and 1 was fine, while the other I had to refresh several times to get it to stick. e.g. The page just sat there "saying" - "Saving. . ." bluehash 1,581
Agree. I'll look at it this weekend. Username lookups using "@" are turtle slow. If you are writing anything long, I'd suggest saving the content locally, like notepad... just in case, the post times out.
