Hello, I'm try to use msp-exp430g2553et launchpad with energia but the serial monitor doesn't work. I'm using the example code:(One Wire DS18X20_temperature) I found it need to change RXD TXD but I changed it display "no more addresses" please help, thanks!
mozobata posted a topic in GeneralI'm planning a project that requires me to have around a dozen temperature and humidity sensors placed around the house and the yard. These would connect to a central Arduino in the house that would log the data and send it to a database elsewhere. I have browsed the internet for solutions that work for long cable runs. For temperature sensors I found 1-Wire, especially ds18b20 sensors. However, there doesn't seem to exist humidity and pressure sensors that utilize 1-Wire. What is the easiest way to accomplish such network of sensors? RS485 seems to do great even with long cables (my longest run will be less than 50 meters, most in the 5-10 m range) but as far as I know it would require a microcontroller in each end, which would add complexity.
I have a problem interpretting the temperature reading of a DS18B20 chip. There is a certain situation I am not abble to resolve. This is the example temp table for the chip from the datasheet: an example for reading of -0.5*C is shown as FFF8. Cutting off the 4 LSBits we get 0x0FFF. In signed data structure that is equal to -1, not 0. How am I abble to resolve the difference between 2 readings: -0.5*C and -1.5*C? If 0xFFF8 = -0.5 then what is the form of -1.5? The table then shows an example for -10.125*C. Cutting off the 4 LSBits gives 0x0FF5 which really is -10, then there is no reason to think that there is some kind of a shift for reading negative values... Then how to test DS18B20?
Hi, I've finally found my "cahones" and decided to become a doer, and hopefully more active on the forum. I've been working on his for more than a year on my free time and have learned a lot. However, nothing real have come out of this project until recently. With the recent release of energia library for nRF24L01P by spirillis, I decided to restart working on it. Anyway. I'll post what I've done so far and move along with the suggestions. I'm a noob, so I've gone the noob way: Breadboarded first using what I had in my noob bin (msp430g2553 , nRF24l01P, ds18b20, thermistor, 7805, lm358, 9v battery, couple of resistors and capacitors) Used the launchpad schematics to get the components values. Board Layout with fritzing. Eagle was too complicated for me. Ordered the board thru Oshpark after exporting the gerbers. [ yay!!! I'm speaking like the pros :grin:) Programming with Energia, so far everything is going ok. I attached the fritzing file as well as the oshpark rendering of the board. Please, take a look, let me know where I've gone wrong. YAWSB.zip
