  1. Hi All, I got fed up with male headers on the LaunchPad, so I made up a small PCB to gender change the LaunchPad. It has the nice side effect that it is easy to switch my LaunchPad among different projects. Check it out https://analog10.com/posts/000_switchpad.html Thanks, Dave
  2. I tried it for test and it works. I am not sure if it is efficient or not though.. ?
  3. I'm working on integrating an accelerometer(ADXL335) into my project. So I'm doing three single channel conversions, on the three axes. The first conversion I do gives me a normal reading for horizontal, ~450. The other ones give me ~880 and ~1020. I have switched the axes and the first one always gives me the correct value the others don't. The following code shows my ADC function. int Acc(char channel) { int res, ch; ch = channel * 0x1000; ADC10CTL0 &= ~ENC; ADC10CTL0 |= ADC10ON; ADC10CTL1 = ch + ADC10SSEL_3; ADC10CTL0 |= ENC + ADC10SC; while(ADC10CTL1&

  5. Hi everybody again, now i need all the comunity to help me... i need to read a single pin on my launchpad and plot those information in matlab, somebody can help me to do this?? i read in arduino playground a piece of code to call analogread() from matlab, with lauchpad its the same or what can i do to do this?
  6. I finally have an LCD display to connect to my MSP430 Launchpad but I'm not sure which pins to connect. I decided to use a serial inteface because it will leave more pins open on my Launchpad for other inputs and outputs. Here is the pin description but it doesn't really tell me what CS, SDO, SDI, and SCL mean. As far as the pins on the Launchpad http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/msp430g2553.pdf (Pages 6-8) I'm not really sure which ones to use for CS, SDO, SDI, and SCL. Could it just be any pins with digital read and digital write functionality? If so, I assume it would be best to use the
  7. To know the FLASH and an estimate of the RAM used, find the location of the size utility /Applications/Energia.app/Contents/Resources/Java/hardware/tools/msp430/bin/msp430-size compile a sketch and find the location of the elf file
  8. Hello, I am designing a board that is based on the Ethernet booster pack that, I believe, Rob made, as well as integrate SD card holder as well. I am planning on using both, since I bought both of them, to build a new platform for the LaunchPad. I will have 56K of code space, and 4K of SRAM, I will post some schematics as I go on. It will be open source and I am hoping that everybody will like it, and will keep you updated.
  9. Hi, I am working on a sensor module design for a research project I am doing. I using an MSP430G2553 that I plug into a socket on my custom PCB. The MSP430 manages a collection of I2C sensors and then communicates data over Bluetooth. The Bluetooth module connects to the MSP430 with the hardware UART, 9600 baud rate. I was planning on programming the MSPs with the Launchpad and then plugging them into my sensor module PCBs. The issue I am having is that I am receiving no response over the serial connection when I try the setup on my custom PCB. I bread boarded the design prior to crea
  10. Hi. I finaly get VirtualWire working with msp430g2553, but wen I try compiling on msp430g2453 I get: core.a(TimerSerial.cpp.o): In function `TimerSerial__TxIsr': energia-0101E0009/hardware/msp430/cores/msp430/TimerSerial.cpp:213: multiple definition of `__isr_9' VirtualWire/VirtualWire.cpp.o:VirtualWire.cpp:(.text.Timer_A_int+0x0): first defined here collect2: ld returned 1 exit status How to fix library to compile for 2452 ? 11. Hi all! Yesterday I finished with my little project, which was to play ring-tones in rtttl-format (Ring-Tone Text Transfer Language) with MSP430G2231. I thought that some of you might be interested about the project and about the code. Code is "built" from arduino sketch which involves Tone Library and the sketch acts as a interpreter for the rtttl "code", but also the code is partly made of 'msp430 LaunchPad Music' made by Bob Somers. So this is a kind of a ported code. Here's how it works. Main part of the rtttl-player (as the CCS project is named) is the play_rtttl(*song) functi
  12. Hi everyone, I'm trying to implement a midi output communication, but there seem to be a problem and I'm not sure if it's with my software or hardware. So here's what I'm getting... I'm trying to do it with a Launchpad rev 1.4 with the MSP430G2231 chip. I connected my launchpad to a midi connector like they told on the Teensy Midi Library page http://www.pjrc.com/teensy/td_libs_MIDI.html So translated to the launchpad: P1_1 (TX pin) to midi Pin 5 (tried with and without a 220 ohms resistor) GND to midi Pin 2 VCC to midi Pin 4 with a 220 ohms resistor For the VCC
  13. Finally I'll share some of my binary watch project with you guys. Some features: - 11 LEDs charlieplexed on 2x 3 I/O pins (6 LEDs per 3 I/O lines, one LED not placed) - As low power as can get (900 nA in stand-by) - 14-pin value lin MSP430 - watch crystal sourced (32768Hz) - two buttons (of which one is on the reset line) - well under 2kB code (1.6kB) The "display refresh rate" is 512Hz, which makes the "pixel refresh rate" at 85Hz, a comfortable rate for the eye. The WDT is used as a minute timer (2 second hardware, 30 iterations in software), sourced from the crystal, I
  14. I can not do msp430g2553, working with a TLC5940, is there any library for it?
  15. Hi there, I'm an experienced software engineer here in Chicago. I'm primarily interested Energia for the TI MSP430. I hope to learn, and contribute, on that topic. I'm looking forward to reading more. Thanks! Phil
  16. Hi from Colombia, I like the TI microcontrolers, but I
  17. I have been working on a few different projects that could be described as wireless sensor nodes. Just to get something working I decided to hack a retail router to give my MSP430 wireless capabilities. The first step was to install OpenWRT Linux onto the router to make it configurable. After that I mounted the file system onto a flash drive that was using the built in USB port on the router. From there I broke out the convenient 3.3v serial connection and hooked it up to my MSP430. Currently I am working on a full write up that will include compiling OpenWRT from source and detailed step by
  18. For the last couple of days i am getting below error while uploading to launchpad : / I have tried different usb ports, tried restarting etc.didn't work.. i am using win7 x64 and upload was working very good : / Any help? Binary sketch size: 7,906 bytes (of a 16,384 byte maximum) tilib: MSP430_Initialize: Could not find MSP-FET430UIF on specified COM port (error = 57) tilib: device initialization failed
  19. Hello MSP430 Coders i have finished all the basic modules, now i stuck in to uart. i need some ideas from your side,( if possible please give me code also :-P ) my Launchpad send signal to print numbers like 1,2,3 ... for every 1 second delay, numbers should be printed in to hyper terminal. what will the pin connection for the launchpad, Jumper setting and the most important thing is how the launchpad will work. Thanks you all.
  20. hi, can you give a little example about the usage of shift registers by using energia? if you can check the picture i have upload, i want to enable one pin > and send e 4igits for each clock cycle- specifically thanks, sirri
  21. Hi I have just joined the forum as a beginner on the MSP430 chips, been doing quite a bit of research on the chips with an aim to start programming shortly! Located in the United Kingdom. Thanks
  22. Hello, I am new to the MSP430 Launchpad and am trying to get familiar with CCS5 and the MS430. I am trying to use macros to control the watch dog timer but I can't seem to get it working. The code builds fine but when it gets run it gets hung up and won't give me any kind of error until I pause. The error is as follows: Can't find a source file at "/tmp/TI_MKLIBTw7SkT/SRC/autoinit.c" Though, I am able to get it working if I set all the bits at once. See below for examples. This does not work.... #define wdt_password_set() ( WDTCTL |= WDTPW ) #define wdt_mode_inte
  23. Hello, my a second program is setting AD converter and calculates least step AD converter. The setting AD converter is for beginner. The program is beta version. CalcTimerMSP430.zip
  24. Hello, I have few questions about launchpad in general; 1-The internal thermometer is a seperate chip on launchpad or a feature in 2553 chip? 2-Does internal clock works stand alone (apart from launchpad) ? 3-Can we supply msp430xx chip standalone with a 3V battery cell? (I can't find LM1086 3.3V voltage regulator in my city) 4- What is the priority order while coding (energia) among libraries, functions, main code ? Thanks in advance, Sirri
