  1. I would like to measure the voltage of a NiMH DC battery not exceeding 12V and I just knew that msp430g2553's ADC has an internal voltage divider. Is it appropriate to use the internal voltage divider directly without any external circuit?
  2. Hi! I'm a newbie just starting out with a MSP-EXP430G2 LaunchPad running with an M430G2553 chip. I am trying to load Examples from the Energia IDE but each time I attempt to compile or upload the code I get an error: msp430-g++: error: <name>\AppData\Local\Energia15\packages\energia\tools\msp430-gcc\4.6.5/include: No such file or directory exit status 1 Error compiling for board MSP-EXP430G2 w/ MSP430G2553. I am running a Win 10 64 laptop. I have selected the correct Board (MSP-EXP430G2 w/ M430G2553) from the Tools menu and updated the software. Can someone pleas
  3. I'm trying to bring up a CLI/Makefile based toolset under Ubuntu. Ubuntu version 17.04 MSPDebug version 0.24 My two Launchpads are both MSP-EXP430G2, Rev1.5, and are about three years old. One has a 2553 chip and the other is a 2452. Result of 'mspdebug --usb-list' includes: Devices on bus 001: 001:010 0451:f432 eZ430-RF2500 [serial: FEFF467AF9CB2548] Running mspdebug gives: randy@corvette: mspdebug/0.24$ ./mspdebug -U '001:010' rf2500 MSPDebug version 0.24 - debugging tool for MSP430 MCUs Copyright (C) 2009-2016 Daniel Beer <dlbeer@gmail.com> This is
  4. It seems this is the problem that will never go away. I am asking here because anything on Google appears to be many years old, and I don't know if patches were applied to the Linux code base in that time or not. My Linux version (from /proc/version): "Linux version 4.9.56 (gleepy@clyde) (gcc version 6.3.0 (GCC) ) #1 SMP Sun Oct 15 14:54:08 EDT 2017" as an x86_64 system with no 32 bit libraries anywhere, I am causing the cdc-acm module to be loaded when either Launchpad is attached: two /dev/ttyACMx ports with the MSP-EXP430FR5994, as is expected; one with the '430G2. The '430G2
  5. Hello, I need some guidance on Programming MSP-EXP430G2 Launchpad using Energia on Linux OS. This is the first time I am using energia. The main objective for using energia is to be able to program/debug MSP-EXP430G2 Launchpad in Linux environment (as CCS 6.0 does not support MSP-EXP430G2 Launchpad on linux) Guidance needed for: Kindly guide me on how can I get things working in usermode. Specially, I would like to be able to 1. pass any argument while my code is running in the device (equivalent to scanf/getc/getchar in C programming). 2. Print information while my cod
  6. I'm developping some codes with Energia or TI CCS for the TI LaunchPad MSP-EXP430G2, v1.4 and v1.5, with G2553 and G2452 chips. I organize DIY workshops. I'm playing with various computers, I enumarate them: 1x W7Pro32, 1x W7Starter, 1x W8.1x64, 1x TP-Link TL-MR3020+OpenWrt, 1x TP-Link WR710N+OpenWrt. Nothing is going right with serial, only my old W7Pro32 can read/write thru the USB serial ! Even my 2 OpenWrt TP-Link can't communicate ! If I play with some Arduino in place of TI LaunchPad, all USB serial is working fine (except the known reset problem of Arduino USB serial). Y
  7. Hi, I have a MSP-EXP430G2 Rev. 1.4 with ....G2231 installed. I have disconnected the on-board emulator supply by removing the J3-VCC jumper. All info on the web and TI literature that I have found so far state that to power up the MCU, I must provide a 47K pull up from RST to VCC (3.6V). The schematic for the Launchpad indicates that the pull up is actually on the board already. Whether I assume that the on-board pull up is really there or connect my own external resistor, the mcu will not power up and begin execution. The only thing that seems to work is to tie RST directly to VCC.
  8. A friend, knowing that I'm interested in microcontrollers, gave me an Energia tarball along with the TI Launchpad MSP-EXP430G2 to play with on my Centos 6 laptop. At the moment, I'm executing the sample programs but the serial port is grayed out and therefore not installing correctly - so - looking for help - I first looked for an nntp USENET newsgroup - but, not having found one, I found this nice forum site instead. This seems to be the place to ask questions (this post is NOT a question!). So, in summary, looking for help is why I created this account - but that's not the purpose o
