  1. I have a project using an MLX90614 that I have prototyped on an Arduino. Now I want to move to the CC3200 to add WiFi support. I've been fighting with the I2C for a few days now and could use some help. A few notes: The built-in I2C sensors (BMA222 and TMP006) work fine in the default configuration. The max speed for the MLX90614 is 100 KHz, but the default for the CC3200 is 400 KHz The MLX90614 is technically SMBus, but it works flawlessly with the Wire library on a standard Arduino. I have modified the Wire library in the hardware/cc3200 folder to call MAP_I2CMasterInitExpClk(I2C_BASE,
  2. Hello, I am trying to interface mlx90614 IR temperature sensor with MSP430f5529. Initially i interfaced this sensor with arduino uno without any problem. I could even fetch object and ambient temperature. But when it came to interfacing with MSP430 board using i2c. Kindly guide me for this. Regards.
  3. Hey guys. I'm learning I2C protocol and practicing with LM4F120 board, I'm using DS1307 as the I2C device. I tried to scan for the I2C device first but found I2C device at any address. I did checked my wire connection, my I2C setModule(), etc but still. This does not happen with Arduino Please help me out. Thank you Here's the code. I use Energia. i2c_scanner.ino
  4. I've been playing with Adafruit's ADXL345 accelerometer BOB and was able to import and run the Adafruit library code without any edits. Sweet...
  5. I am using the latest version: energia-0101E0017. I just reloaded it from Energia's website this morning. It is their December 2015 version. I am using the latest CCS version 6.1.3. I installed a fresh version of that a couple days ago and have applied all the updates I could find. Using the very popular I2C_Scan tool, I get bad results. I either get all addresses telling me there's a device there, or if I do a write(0); between begin and end transmission, I get no devices... See brief code snip below: void findAddress(int fromAddress, int toAddress) { for (int a = fromAddres
  6. Good morning everybody, I'm Curtis, Fairly new to the world of MSP430, but VERY HAPPY that this forum exists. Energia has made my life much easier. I was about to make a hole in my wall by repeatedly bashing my head against it, but Energia removed a bunch of the minutia and provides a great abstraction layer and way of programming the MSP4230G2553 controller. See ya 'round, Curtis
  7. I have a Spikenzie Labs LCD screen with an interface (screen utilizes the HD44780 chipset). I have it connected to an MSP-EXP432P401R (Rev 1.0). I have finally got code working that allows me to write to the LCD screen through the serial monitor, however I can only write to the screen for a short but varying amount of time. Sometimes I can print to the screen for 5 seconds, sometimes only for 1 second before communication cuts out. Here is the code I am using: #include <Wire.h> #include <LiquidCrystal.h> #define addr 0x40 >> 1 void setup() { Wire.begin(); Serial.beg
  8. Hello, I'm trying to get a standard 1602 LCD (16x2 from Raystar) connected to MSP432 with the I2C interface. Are there any existing libraries which could help me out? I've found some I2C libraries for Arduino but naturally they're not compatible, and the only existing Energia examples deal with CogLCD which uses a SPI interface (emerging question: is there a way to make SPI and I2C compatible?) or standard 16 pin connection. MSP432 is still a relatively fresh chip, so I can't find any examples whatsoever. Thanks!
  9. I am failing to compile some legacy Arduino projects that call Wire.setClock() (or Wire.setSpeed()). Are these unsupported in the Energia IDE library implementations? I looked but didn't find them in $\hardware\cc3200\libraries\Wire\Wire.c or Wire.h. How else to set 400kHz I2C operation (vs default 100 kHz)? --Don
  10. Hi,guys! This is my first time here. This forum seems like a very active MSP430 community.Glad to find so many MSP430 lovers. I would like to share a project I did a month ago, which is about evaluating TI's Senshub board with MSP430F5529.Well this board has lots of sensors on it,such as BMP180,MPU9150,TMP006,SHT21,ISL29023.On TI
  11. Hi everyone. I was looking through the Energia library (cores/msp430/twi.c) today trying to debug an issue I have been seeing, and noticed the following code: /* Work around for: * If the master does a read and then a write the START interrupt occurs * but the RX interrupt never fires. Clearing bit 4 and 5 of UCBxCTLW0 solves this. * bit 4 and 5 are however marked as reserved in the datasheet. */ UCBxCTLW0 &= ~0x18; Does anyone happen to know why this is? I have searched high and low for a reference on TI's forums and in their documentation to no avail. Thanks for the help!
  12. Hi everyone! I am trying to get a PAC1710 chip as a slave working with the MSP430G2553. I am having a ton of trouble doing so and can't seem to even get the address of the slave for the msp. I am going off of the master_reader code as an example. My first question is I know that you need to give the slave an address but I am not sure how to do so. On the data sheet of the pac1710, the address is as follows - 0011000. Thanks!
  13. Hi, I have an MSP430 F5529 LaunchPad, R1.6. I am trying to use the Wire library to access I2C BoosterPacks. The problem is that the Wire library is accessing the I2C0 interface on pins 14 and 15, while the BoosterPack is connected to I2C1, on pins 9 and 10. How do I select which I2C interface the Wire library uses? I tried using Wire0 and Wire1, but these result in a compiler error -- Wire is the only object defined. Aren't pins 9 and 10 preferred for the I2C interface according to the suggested pinout? If so, then shouldn't the Wire library default to using this interface?
  14. Hi , I am using MSP430FR6x8x Controller. (Launchpad of MSP430FR6989) and In my project I wanted to Interface ADXL345 Over I2C with MSP4306989 Launchpad. I have tried the Reference codes available from TI and tried to change slave address of the ADXL345. But Still I have not got any success. For Reference , I am using ADXL345 Breakout Board having 4.1k Pull up for I2C lines. And while connecting I am also taking care of Grounds. Pin I ma using is P1.6 for SDA and Pin p1.7 for SCL In ADXL345 the CS pin is tied with Vcc and also ALT pin is too connected with Vcc. So As per
  15. I am trying to implement an I2C slave with a simple register map using a MSP430. The plan is for the I2C master to write an offset and then request the response. The weird thing is that my receiveEvent handler never fires if the I2C master sends a restart message. I must modify the I2C master to send the stop message before requesting data from the slave. Master: unsigned char offset = 0; void setup() { Wire.begin(); } void loop() { Wire.beginTransmission(2); Wire.write(offset); Wire.endTransmission(false); // This does not work. Must use default endTransmission(); Wire.requ
  16. how to use i2c multi master by energia? can you help me ? thank you !!
  17. I apologize in advance as the answer to this may be obvious, but I've looked around the forums and haven't found an answer yet. I'm trying to use a Bosch BME280 sensor with a MSP430FR5969 to do some handy datalogging. I found a library for it located here https://github.com/embeddedadventures/BME280 originally for Arduino implementation, and it works fine on that platform. There's no obvious requests for avr based libraries etc... but where should I start in attempting to get this to work with an MSP430?
  18. Hello everyone, I have trouble with i2c on FR5969 launchpad. I wanted to interface a BMP180. As it didn't work, I tested my module on my TivaC launchpad and Arduino and it was OK. So I connected my oscilloscope and my logic analyzer on pin P1.6 and P1.7 and there was strictly no activity ... Searching on the internet I couldn't find any person using i2c on this launchpad, so has anyone tried to play with i2c on it ? Problem detected on Energia v15, v14 doesn't work too. I looked at pins_energia.h, it seems ok ...
  19. hello all! why are energia wire lib don't work? I have connected my launchpad 430g2553 to PCF8576 LCD 10. P1_6 to SDL and P1_7 to SDA . I try to write some code to use Software I2C Library but it did't work in energia . But EAR lib for software i2c work correct way. what i can to do to connect LCD with energia ? no software no hardware energia code don't work what 's the reason?
  20. Hi, I am working with TEA5767 FM module to receive FM Audio. I have noticed a peculiar issue. When the launchpad is powered by my Laptop the communication works (only MSP430 <-> TEA5767 on I2C ) and I am not using the Serial which will anyway require my laptop. But when i power the Launchpad using a wall wart phone charger which is also @ 5V . It doesnt work at all. Since i am not using Serial. Laptop should not be required. The code is given below: #include <Wire.h> unsigned char frequencyH = 0; unsigned char frequencyL = 0; unsigned int frequencyB; double frequency
  21. Hi there, just received my BOOSTXL-SENSHUB and only wanted to show you what's in the box aBUGSworstnightmare The box The boosterpack mounted on a Stellaris Launchpad I've added a GPS I've once made for use with the EVALBOT The stack from the side. The GPS uses the RF-interface connectors. They allow easy addition of I2C/UART/SPI devices
  22. Hey guys . I never posted enything before bocuse there was no need to start new topic. A lot of great works out here i appreciate that and i would like to thnaks all of you . Now im starting my first "solo project" and i dont know how to start. So there is "AltIMU-10 v4" four in one --> https://www.pololu.com/product/2470/resources and i would like to make program that will mesure possition and speed using AltIMU-10 v4 via i2c and msp430G2553. i need some guidance how to start. I read datasheet but i honestly did not understeand how data transfer works . so is there someone w
  23. I decided to have a crack at building some drum pads, because the keyboard that I'd acquired for the kids to learn piano on had a midi input, and somewhat acceptable drum sounds to boot. After several months of sitting around half-completed under a cupboard, I decided to pull it out over the easter weekend and actually make it work. In words, here's what I did. Six drum pads, made of a square of hardboard with 5mm closed-cell foam glued to the top and standing on 15mm foam pads. Each pad has a piezo electric transducer underneath, attached using hot glue. These six piezos are each hook
  24. Hi, I am trying to get i2c working on a EK-TM4C1294XL on energia. I am trying to use i2c channel 0. So they should be on pb2 and pb3. Thing is, I do not see any signal on sda or sck on the scope except for the pullup. On the serial debug I see "Start" and "Loop" but "Loop2" never appears. Like it is stuck sending I2c. As simpel as this program is, I am not getting it or something is wrong in the libraries. Hope you can help, cheers John #include <Wire.h> void setup() { Wire.setModule(0); Wire.begin(); // join i2c bus (address optional for master)
