  1. Hi all, Based on reading the 430 forum and Github Energia/Pervasive issues lists, it appears that someone has successfully setup and tested the EPD Booster with Stellaris (LM4F120). I have acquired an older 2.7 Pervasive Display (which appears to require PWM) and booster board (version 1.5). Using Energia, I can successfully directly connect using my MSP430G2553 so I know the board/display is ok. I want to connect the EPD to my Stellaris -- since there is a PWM requirement, I believe I will need to use the wireharness (instead of direct connecting) and set up a macro for PWM to co
  2. I'm trying to update CC3200 Launchpad firmware as described in Energia web site (energia CC3200 guide) Everything seems working correctly but I get the following error message: [10:12:25] INFO: DEVICE CC3200 ES1.32 [10:12:25] INFO: reading version info [10:12:26] INFO: reading version info [10:12:28] ERROR: NWP file is missing from the bundle file. Operation cancelled. [10:12:28] INFO: > Executing Operation: Disconnect [10:12:28] Operation ServicePackProgramming returned. I cannot find references to this kind of error on Energia web site, 43OH forums or TI forums. Any suggestio
  3. Hi, I know that wifi.begin uses DHCP and grabs an IP assigned to the cc3200. my question is, can I convert the IP to a website name instead of just the IP numbers ? Right now, I am using the simplewebserver example and I get the IP for the device to be 192.168.1.224. It says to open and see the webpage, type that IP into a browser. But Instead of putting that IP into the browser,is there a way that I could put something like mywebsite.com and still get to the same page on IP 192.168.1.224 ? this is all local, so no port forwarding and no accessing the website from outside the router.
  4. Hi, I am not from the field of IT and do not know how to design webpages. I want to design a webpage/dashboard for real time monitoring of remote data using Tiva. I have referred freeboard.io and few other resources, but I am unable to find any customizable dashboard which has user management and alert facilities. Can anyone suggest me some tool with which I can design my own website/dashboard for IOT (drag-drop preferably)? Thanks.
  5. I have had a career in telecommunications and now like to dabble with computers. IoT seems interesting so I am here to see what I can learn from the more knowledgeable folk who contribute here.
  6. Hy, I worked on a source half a year ago with an older Energia (I do not know exactly which one.). I was able to acces UartIntHandler and UartIntHandler2() functions directly. As I remember I do not change the content of Energia under OSX. Now I try to modify 1-2 things for example in the startup_gcc.c or hardwareserial.c, but the are not working. Can you help me how could I reach the UART interrupt handlers from Energia? (The setup of UART module worked on CCS or IAR before.) Can I use something like attachinterrupt()?
  7. Hello, I'm not sure of what the update cadence for Energia is. However, I did find that the Wire.h library in Arduino has been updated since the Energia version. The Arduino's Wire.h library have a method - Wire.setClock() that allows setting the I2C bus speed. By default I believe it is 100KHz. On an Arduino Zero board I was able to bump it up to 3MHz (limited by the I2Cdevice I'm using) and the performance is incredible. However, since in Energia we don't have this method, the performance of the I2C device is extremely slow. So I'm wondering when/if there is a plan to upgrade the Wir
  8. Hello All, I've been visiting this site for a few days since embarking on using the MSP432 launch pad with the CC3100 booster pack. I'm really impressed with the energy and brain power of the folks here and hope to imbibe some of that smartness and in time help others that join here. I currently also use various Arduino and Netduino boards and having spent some time looking at the C/C++ source code I have come to realize (sadly) that my C/C++ skills (if one could call it that) are atrophied terribly. My interests lie in developing a bunch of "projects" using various MCUs and to eve
  9. I was wondering if anybody has been able to get LPM modes working with Energia EMT and the MSP432. I have tried a few things, but have been unsuccessful in lowering the current draw of the MSP432. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!
  10. This project uses an inexpensive AD9850 board obtained off eBay to create a frequency generator boosterpack that is especially useful with the MSP-EXP430FR6989 LaunchPad. It features an encoder with a pushbutton to adjust frequency. In the photo below it is generating a 7000 Hz signal which agrees nicely with the oscilloscope. The schematic is simple: The encoder is a Bourns 652-PEC12R-4225F-S24. I tried various arrangements and value of resistors and capacitors for debouncing the encoder and switch. In the end I just added some capacitance as shown in the schematic. On the oscillosco
  11. HI ! This my first post. Excuse me if I do something wrong and by my poor english... In Energia Multitasking Guide page (http://energia.nu/guide/multitasking/) I found this information: "Currently, Multitasking is supported on the MSP432 launchpad." Unfortunately in page don't have nothing that defines "Currently". Then I ask to my colleagues if currently Energia multitasking does not support TM4C1294. Thanks Ivan
  12. This is the first PCB that I have designed and sent off to be manufactured. Yesterday I received the boards, soldered them up, and they work! This write-up outlines the process I used in the hope that it will be useful to other hobbyists and builders. There are links at the end which provide additional detail. Selecting a Project The project consists of a small board with a MSP430G2553 microcontroller and an nRF24L01 radio. I started with a radio attached with jumpers to a LaunchPad quite some time back and then built one on a proto-board. The photograph below shows a G2553 with r
  13. Hello i have to add an external memory card (sd card ) with my msp432 launchpad ..i am using energia..I have interfaced an environmental sensor and have showed the output via sharp lcd boosterpack..now i have to store the data which is temperature , pressure and humidity to the sd card ...I have no clue how to do it ...can anyone help ??
  14. This is an Energia sketch designed to be used with a rotary encoder with push button. The difference is that input can be made coarser or finer by pushing the button. The need came about because I wanted to be able to adjust a frequency generator between 1 and 40 MHz with fine adjustment on the order of 1 Hz with a simple interface on the board. A potentiometer would not work due to low resolution and jitter. Buttons or a simple encoder might work but it would take a lot of button pushing or knob turning to get from 10 Hz to 10 MHz. I thought about a solution where the rate of turning
  15. Hello All, Is there any sample program for using the CAN with Stellaris/Tiva-C with energia IDE ? I could see D:\energia-0101E0017\hardware\lm4f\cores\lm4f\driverlib can.c and can.h files. How to include this .h files and have a program which transmit some data Thanks for your support Dino

    FFT

I was inspired a while back by the simplicity of the FFT application written by Shane Ormond and featured on the 43oh blog. It was easy to duplicate and I've made a few changes, additions, and such that seemed worth documenting. I didn't have a signal generator other than the 1kHz square wave on my oscilloscope and some clunky code that I wrote for a microcontroller so I ordered an inexpensive AD9850 and hooked it up to a FR6989 LP so I could use the LCD to display frequency. I've been pleased with the AD9850 and it is hard to beat it for the price. The sine wave is more than sufficient
  17. I am uploading the fade example of energia to the tiva t4mc1294 connected launchpad but the LED is not fading. It is just blinking. I have also connected the pwm output to motor drivers but the speed of the motors are not changing. When I check the voltage of the pin with my multimeter, I get 0.66v. I have tried the fade example on different pins like PF2, PF3(pins marked for analogWrite in launchpad reference) but the results are same. Here is the code for the fade example, given as reference. int brightness = 0; // how bright the LED is int fadeAmount = 5; // how many points to f
  18. Hello I have interfaced Bosch BME 280 sensor via i2c with msp432p401r launchpad..and have displayed the output via 430 sharp96 lcd boosterpack..now I have to save the sensor output data to the internal memory...can anyone help ??
  19. I am having an issue with the ADC14 peripheral of the MSP432 on the MSP432 Launchpad using Energia. Background: I've used "ordinary" Arduinos in the past to get things up and running quickly for test fixtures or one-off devices, but for MSP432 and most everything else I do I prefer Assembly and C languages. I thought I would try my hand at doing something in Energia, to see how it compared. My test project was simply to characterize the ADC14 because it has decent resolution and that could be useful in other projects, so I started out with the basic AnalogReadSerial example and got it
  20. I try to make a TCP connection between EK-TM4C1294XL and Labview. The microcontroller is the client, and in Labview there is a server. I use Energia's standard functions (like client.connect())., and success to make connection with Hercules. I also success to make connection between Hercules and Labview. But I don't success to make the final connection - microcontroller to Labview. there is a difference between the Energia's functions and the standard?
  21. Hi, I want to build a code for two TIVA lauchpads so as to form a redundant pair. If Launchpad 1 fails, then the logic should shift to Launchpad 2 where both launchpads have the same logic. How do I go about it? Any insights would be helpful.
  22. Apologies in advance for a long post.... First, here is what I am trying to do: I have a MSP430F5529 LP with a dAISy backpack sending serial data at 38400 Baud to a Tiva C LP with a CC3100 backpack. The Tiva C can send debug information to a Windows 10 machine at 115200 Baud. I am using Energia v17. The Tiva C sends NMEA sentences received from dAISy through WiFi to the marinetraffic.com site where the information is posted along with other stations all over the world. If you aren't familiar with dAISy and AIS, here is a screen shot from marinetraffic of ships being tracked by my st
  23. Can someone provide a code for implementing a watchdog timer to autoreset in TIVA TM4C1294ncpdt using energia?
  24. I have experience with the traditional C programming in Code Composer and have implemented a timer interrupt routine in CCS for TIVA TM4C1294, now I want to create a timer ISR in Energia, how do I proceed ?
  25. Last year my daughter (she was almost 7 back then) got interesting in soldering. So I let het solder stuff together, no function whatsoever. It did not last long, until she wanted to solder something that "does something". So I took the challenge and designed this christmas tree. - FR2 board, copper artwork by me, other side by my daughter. (cheap FR2 is better for using felt tip pens.. almost like paper) - G2553, all 16pins to simple LEDs, various colours - simple discrete regulator (another led+ transistor) for more or less 3V - powered by USB - mostly through-hole (soldered by
