  1. Hello All, Quick question here.. wondering if anyone knows of a good library for java like commands in regards to strings. it would be very helpful to me to use commands like .length and other string related commands. I'm really hoping someone knows one off the top of their head. Thanks in advance, Jbean :grin: :thumbup:
  2. Hi Guys, I am developing a set of lessons to introduce radio hams to programming the MSP430 using Energia. I was wondering if there was a printable language reference manual like the one for the Arduino. A lot of the people I'll be working with like to have things in print. Thanks, Steve
  3. Colleagues, Is it possible to use Energia with FET430? When I
  4. Problem solved! Here is a basic touch screen with 4 wires, YP-XP-YN-XN as per this specification sheet. The screen has no controller for touch. The sketch works fine on Arduino Uno but not with the Stellaris. When I move my finger horizontally, both x and y values change. Same problem occurs when I move my finger vertically. Only one value should be impacted. What's going wrong? I suspect some initialisation problem, especially with the open pin. // Core library for code-sense #include "Energia.h" // Include application, user and local libraries // Define variables and
  5. Problem solved! I'd like to write and read the 8 bits of PB port on the LaunchPad Stellaris at once. On the Arduino Meag2560, I can write and read the values of an 8-bit port, for example PORTC. void LCD_HI32::_writeParallelLCD88(uint8_t dataHigh8, uint8_t dataLow8) { #if defined(__AVR_ATmega1280__) || defined(__AVR_ATmega2560__) PORTA = dataHigh8; PORTC = dataLow8; pulse_low(_portWR, _bitWR); #else //#error Platform not supported. #endif } void LCD_HI32::_readParallelLCD88(uint8_t &dataHigh8, uint8_t &dataLow8) { #if defined(__AVR_ATmega1280__) || defined(__AVR
  6. This is the second release of stellaris wizfi210 library (based on original wiznet/jbkim arduino library) with SPI communication (9 examples included) Library for WIZFI210 with SPI firmware WizFiShield_v02.zip First of all: we need WizFi module/WizFi boosterpack with spi firmware! how to change serial firmware to spi firmware(with link to latest spi fimware) Second: recomended - additional connection from wizfi reset pin to stellaris pin (hardware reset or other digital pin) blue kynar from wizfi pin 35 (EXT_nRESET) to Stellaris PA_6 (in my case) BoosterPack back sid
  7. When programming recently, I found that I had some trouble controlling a motor at the same time as several servo. The servos would go all crazy, and the motor wouldn't work. I guessed that this was because the timers were interfering, or not enough timers, or similar. Digging into the servo library, and the analogWrite function, I found that they're both trying to use Timer A. Thus, I modified the analogWrite function. In file energia/hardware/msp430/cores/msp430/wiring_analog.c , I commented out lines 110 to 123 (inclusive). Below is the code commented out. case T0A1:
  8. Here is the library for Rob's nice 2.2" Color LCD Booster Pack with Touch with a reference manual. Distribution107.zip I've tested it successfully with a LaunchPad MSP430G2553 and a StellarPad LM4F120H5QR. Notes SPI maximum speed MSP430G2553 = SPI_CLOCK_DIV4 and LM4F120H5QR = SPI_CLOCK_DIV2 Software SPI implementation doesn't work for getTouch(): issues with shiftIn(). For the LM4F, screen SPI communication needs to be cleaned with a useless point(0, 0); before talking to the touch controller. 10. Hi all, I was wondering if modifying the compiler flags was easily possible? I have a program that is really tiptoe-ing the maximum program size for my FR5739, and when I add some extra functionality, it goes overboard by 1-2k. I think some of this is due to some extra bloat that Energia adds, but for the simplicity of getting up and running, alongside the sweet already-created libraries, it's totally worth it. So, before I go out and re-design a board with a different chip, I was wondering if there were some freebies I should look into. I think I've removed as much extra co
  11. I ran into an unexpected issue when testing my BMP085 library, originally developed on MSP430, with a Stellaris LaunchPad: When I include of Wire.h from my library's header file, it is not found by the compiler. fatal error: Wire.h: No such file or directory A bit of research brought me to this thread, which indicates that Arduino does not expect/support <Wire.h> to be included inside libraries. http://arduino.cc/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=0799edeb50822ca579644d323baeec5e&topic=37682.msg278141#msg278141 And yes, the problem goes away if I include Wire.h in the example inste
  12. I have a launchpad V1.4 and V1.5. I am sending serial data from the launchpad at 9600 baud and using a FT232 and Putty to decode the serial data. However, the serial communication does not work at a baud rate of 9600. I have to set the baud rate in Putty to 4800 in order to get it to work. Somehow the launchpad reverts the baud rate back to 4800. If I set the bad rate on the Launchpad and Putty to 2400 or 4800, all works fine. Only 9600 and higher that does not work. Having the same problem when using TimerSerial.h. The jumper settings on both Launchpads are correct. Being fairly new
  13. I am trying to detect the width of a pulse signal (that should be anywhere from 1ms to 20ms wide) using two ISRs on the MSP430G2553. One ISR is triggered by the rising edge, and the other by the falling edge. The first ISR reads micros() and stores the value in a variable called Time1. The second ISR reads micros() and stores the value in a variable called Time2. The pulse width of the signal is equal to Time2-Time1. The problem is, Time1 and Time2 always end up being equal, even though they are read in two different ISRs on two separate signal edges-- this should be impossible. Any
  14. Hi everybody again, now i need all the comunity to help me... i need to read a single pin on my launchpad and plot those information in matlab, somebody can help me to do this?? i read in arduino playground a piece of code to call analogread() from matlab, with lauchpad its the same or what can i do to do this?
  15. Hi everybody, im new at this forum ant i love energia, a simple and fast ide for develope with the msp430 lauchpad. i have a question, its possible to make a bidirectional communication from lauchpad to pc using energia and matlab? anybody can explain to me how ca i do this?? thanks =)
  16. I'm lovin' the ease of the Energia environment for rapid prototyping but I've run across an issue with some code I'm trying to implement. Here it is with the serial output Program: /* ** Simple program designed to simulate pushing 180 degrees of 10 meter scan times ** for testing of VB.NET GUI ** */ String inputString = ""; boolean run = false; String outString = ""; int i = 0; void setup() { Serial.begin(9600); inputString.reserve(200); outString.reserve(200); } void loop() { if (run) { for (i = 0; i < 179; i++) //Print 10 meter ping times for each scan angle {
  17. To know the FLASH and an estimate of the RAM used, find the location of the size utility /Applications/Energia.app/Contents/Resources/Java/hardware/tools/msp430/bin/msp430-size compile a sketch and find the location of the elf file
  18. Hi All, I am trying to make an Anduino program to work on the MSP430G2553 using Energia. After testing and debugging the problem seems to be stuck at Wire.endTransmission(). I am using the LP, connecting to an RFID reader. LP1.6->SCL LP1.7->SDA and have the code below for I2C pull up: pinMode(P1_6, INPUT_PULLUP); pinMode(P1_7, INPUT_PULLUP); The code is void SL018::transmitData() { Serial.println("Transmitting 1"); // wait until at least 20ms passed since last I2C transmission while(t > millis()); t = millis() + 20; Serial.println("Transmit
  19. Hi! Those are the links to TI page and specification sheet: http://www.ti.com/product/msp430g2955 Main thread new msp430g2955 with energia, posted at http://forum.43oh.com/topic/3573-new-msp430g2955-with-energia/ Issue #124 at the GitHub repository: https://github.com/energia/Energia/issues/214
  20. A friend, knowing that I'm interested in microcontrollers, gave me an Energia tarball along with the TI Launchpad MSP-EXP430G2 to play with on my Centos 6 laptop. At the moment, I'm executing the sample programs but the serial port is grayed out and therefore not installing correctly - so - looking for help - I first looked for an nntp USENET newsgroup - but, not having found one, I found this nice forum site instead. This seems to be the place to ask questions (this post is NOT a question!). So, in summary, looking for help is why I created this account - but that's not the purpose o
  21. Is there any chance to implement debugging with Energia? The manual procedure works fine with Terminal windows on Mac OS X, although everything is manual. One of the unparalleled key feature of the LaunchPad is the built-in hardware debugger. Alas, how to use in an easy way? I'd like to set breakpoint and monitor variables. Here's the manual procedure. On a first Terminal window, launch /Applications/Energia.app/Contents/Resources/Java/hardware/tools/msp430/mspdebug/mspdebug rf2500 gdb On a second Terminal window, launch /Applications/Energia.app/Contents/Resources/Ja
  22. Hi, I've finally found my "cahones" and decided to become a doer, and hopefully more active on the forum. I've been working on his for more than a year on my free time and have learned a lot. However, nothing real have come out of this project until recently. With the recent release of energia library for nRF24L01P by spirillis, I decided to restart working on it. Anyway. I'll post what I've done so far and move along with the suggestions. I'm a noob, so I've gone the noob way: Breadboarded first using what I had in my noob bin (msp430g2553 , nRF24l01P, ds18b20, thermistor, 7805, lm35
  23. Hi. I finaly get VirtualWire working with msp430g2553, but wen I try compiling on msp430g2453 I get: core.a(TimerSerial.cpp.o): In function `TimerSerial__TxIsr': energia-0101E0009/hardware/msp430/cores/msp430/TimerSerial.cpp:213: multiple definition of `__isr_9' VirtualWire/VirtualWire.cpp.o:VirtualWire.cpp:(.text.Timer_A_int+0x0): first defined here collect2: ld returned 1 exit status How to fix library to compile for 2452 ? 24. First-thanks for Energia and all the work that you has been put in! Reading the forums, apparently bugs are patched amazingly quick! Do I need to keep my installation updated? If so, what is the best method? Do I need to apply each patch as they are posted or would it be better to re-install using some GIT tool that can automatically sync? B
  25. Is it possible to compile STM32F4Discovery using Energia?
