  1. I am working on the MSP430G2553 using I2C and Serial libraries. I am playing right now to try to understand the usage of the libraries. I have an I2C slave that I am trying to control how much data gets returned when a read is executed. Using the serial interface I can increase the size that is sent over the I2C but I can't reduce the size even though the variable passed to Wire.write shows it has reduced. Slave code: #include <Wire.h> #define MY_ADDR 2 #define ERR_RQST_MSB 0xF0 ///< First byte sent when request hasn't been preceded by a value #define ERR_RQST_LSB
  2. I am helping adapt a library to Tiva processors from Arduino. I would like to use conditional compilation to separate the Tiva code from that for other processors. (e.g. Arduino Due) Is there a standard macro I can check to see whether Energia is set up for a Tiva/Stellaris processor (vs. another architecture, like MSP430, etc.) I was thinking something along the lines of __ARM__, or __TIVA__. If not, it could be a handy addition. For a temporary fix I am just checking for all the Tiva/Stellaris processors supported by Energia, but that means having to update the library if a n
  3. Hi 43oh folks! I wrote a quick blog post & tutorial on the www.energia.nu website. I wanted to walk through the process of setting up Code Composer Studio v6 to enable Energia sketch imports. This is a cool new feature that takes full advantage of the on-board hardware debugger that is available on our LaunchPad kits & allows developers to go beyond Serial.print(). This provides a nice migration path from Energia to CCS. Energia is great for rapid prototyping, but there are times when a true debugger could be helpful. With CCSv6, we can now import Energia sketches & get ful
  4. I'm currently working on cross platform build tool named PlatformIO. It has pre-built MSP430 GCC toolchain & mspdebug for Mac, Linux 32/64 & Windows OS. 1. How often do you use external standalone toolchain to build your code? In which case? 2. What is your favourite IDE+Toolchain? 3. What would you like to have in paltformio tool? Thanks a lot for answers! P.S: The main idea of this tool is to compile code with different platforms. See Wiring Framework (Arduino + Energia) Blink Example.
  5. I have a MSP430FR5969 launchpad with the Sharp 96x96 LCD boosterpack. The out of the box application had a splash screen. I am aware that using CCS with the library, I could display .c images using the MSP430 image reformer that is included with the graphics library but I'm not really good at coding in C. I came from the Arduino, so I'm more familiar with the energia. Is there any way to display these .c image files on energia?
  6. Hello everyone ! I started to use Energia to create simple projects using MSP430G2553 LaunchPad and somehow I've succeded until now! Today I encountered a problem as I was trying to read values from a HIH-4000-001 humidity sensor. The sensor is powered with 5V and can return a value ranging from 0.826 V to 3.976V coresponding to 0 - 100 % RH. Because 3.976 V is much more than the MSP430 can manage I used a 1:2 resistive divider to scale down the signal. Moreover the sensor needs an load resistance of minimum 80kohms so the resistors I used for my divider were R1= 36kohms and R2

    PicassoBot

Just came across this Kickstarter that features the MSP430G2553 LaunchPad and Energia: PicassoBot, the Portrait Sketching Robot Kit. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/educatedrobot/picassobot-the-portrait-sketching-robot-kit
  8. Hello, I am a long time Arduino user, and I was tempted by the $20 price on the newest "Connected" launchpad TM4C1294XL. Seemed mighty powerful for the price! So I am basicly a noob only when it comes to this platform, and I've been going thru the tutorials and 'getting started' videos and I'm still stuck. First of all, I am trying to get started and the "Blink" example does not work on this board. Apparently because whatever I/O pin that Energia maps as "RED_LED" is not the same as any of the I/O pins that drive the 4 LEDS on my TM4C1294XL board. According to the docs for my board,
  9. Hi everyone, I'm working on Energia CC430 support. It's the first time I do this kind of work, it allowed me to understand a lot of things but not everything of course So I have a lot of questions ! So for now where I am : I'm working on a eZ430 - Chronos 433 mhz (==> CC430F6137). I program it with the ez430 USB stick (I will see later for upload using radio BSL). For now I just tried to get something working, I made a pin_energia.h creating a new MSP430 variant. I edited the board.h and I had to modify wiring.c to get the clock system working : Original line 168 : #i
  10. Hi All, I am using Energia 0101E0012, MSP430G2553, Launchpad G2 Rev 1.4, on a mac. When I run the example MspFlash program, it appears like I erase and write to flash correctly, but when I try to read the "Hello World" written into flash, the only thing that prints out is
  11. hi there, i'm trying to measure impedance by applying sinusoidal wave to a chemical gel. it cannot operate by dc voltages. i can achieve to measure resistance from a dc circuit and send the solution to an LCD screen by reading two channels as follows: my code: #include <LiquidCrystal.h> LiquidCrystal lcd(12, 11, 5, 4, 3, 2); void setup() { // set up the LCD's number of columns and rows: lcd.begin(16, 2); lcd.print("impedance :"); } void loop() { int sensorValue1 = analogRead(A0); int sensorValue2=analogRead(A1); // Convert the analog reading (which goe
  12. A new version of CCS with Energia Sketch import was posted on the TI CCSv6 Wiki. For those not familiar with what this is. It is a feature in Code Composer Studio v6 that allows you to point CCS at Energia, import your Sketches and then use the full debug feature of CCS to debug your Sketches. It uses mspgcc as the compiler but uses the TI emulation software to debug the LaunchPad. I have not tried the Linux version yet but the Windows one works great. Sorry for the Mac users (myself included), there is no support for Mac OS X yet. Any feedback is welcome! http://processors.wik
  13. ive compiled and uploaded my code (below) and when plug my msp430g2553 in it goes to the programmed angle it should when plugged in, but when i run the exe that is supposed to change its angle it doesnt do anything. the exe is programmed to connect to com4, and the msp430 application uart is set to com4. i know the exe can detect it because it wont run unless it can, it just isnt responding. im am using energia 0101E0010 to compile and upload. any help would be appreciated. here is the code: #include <Servo.h> Servo myServo; const int servoPin = 9; // the pin the servo is con
  14. Hi, I was trying to run simple web client code example in energia (MSP-EXP430FR5739 + CC3000). In the code, we have to set communication pins for CC3000 (CS, EN and IRQ pins). From the wiki page (http://processors.wi...-Fi_MSP430_FRAM), pins on FRAM associated with these functions through RF connector are pin 1.3, 4.1 and 2.3. So I tried to find out the pin numbers to use in the code for these pins. But in the default pin mapping for fraunchpad, pin2.3 is not defined (The pins defined in pin mapping seem to be correct). Is there a pin mapping specifically for MSP-EXP430FR5739 which would
  15. hi all, i'm using lauchpad v1.5 G2553 chip on it. I'm reading an anolog signal (150 Hz, 0-1.5Volts). The default sampling frequency for example potentiometer reading codes seems too slow. How can i set the sampling frequency to 1kHz using Energia (0101E0012 version) ? Any sample code would be appreciated thanks...
  16. Hi Everyone, New to the forum and new to the LaunchPad....but having a lot of fun using them to prototype. I am considering moving from CCS to Energia as my primary development platform and had a few questions to assist me with the decision. Is Energia only for LaunchPad's? Can I develop Energia code using a LaunchPad and then upload this code to a supported MCU using a Programmer, which I will then use on my own circuit board? How similar is the Energia code between the different LaunchPad variants? (does it require major changes?) Is anyone using Energia for a product release? I
  17. Hi, I have ported Henning Karlsen's UTFT library to Energia on Stellaris. You can find the code here: https://github.com/jscrane/UTFT-Energia This code shows how to do reasonably fast graphics using GPIOPinWrite() instead of digitalWrite(). It is a fork of the fine work done by Andresv, described on the 43oh forum here: http://forum.43oh.com/topic/3633-utft-library-utouch-henning-karlsen/ Cheers, Steve
  18. Okay... yet another project from me. But this one is close to being real. Basically, it's a toothbrush timer for my nephew. The intent is that he can press a button when he's getting ready to brush his teeth, and the unit will do some LED dances that eventually turn into an LED blinking seconds, and 3 LED's light up based on how far along he is into the brushing ritual Blue LED is the 'second' indicator. Red LED indicates he's in the first minute of brushing. Yellow LED indicates he's in the second minute of brushing. Green LED indicates he's in the third, and final, minute of
  19. Hi All, I am trying to use the AIR430BoostFCC library using the MSP430G2452 uC on the Launchpad. It appears that the library does not play well with this particular uC. The code will run until I call the Radio.begin() function, at which point it stops. Perhaps this is because the G2452 has a USI SPI interface and not a USCI? The MSP430G2553 seems to work correctly (with USCI), but not the G2452. Previously I had a problem compiling code using the AIR430BoostFcc library, which was fixed but the problem had something to do with the defines for USI SPI. That post is here. Perhaps there ar
  20. I am trying to program SHA256 implementation from this website: http://bradconte.com/sha256_c in a MSP430f5529 MCU board in Energia IDE. This is the testcode: unsigned char hash[32]; SHA256_CTX ctx; sha256_init(&ctx); sha256_update(&ctx,(unsigned char*)"abc",4); sha256_final(&ctx,hash); PrintHex(hash); This function converts the input to hex void PrintHex(unsigned char * data) { char tmp[16]; for (int i=0; i<32; i++) { sprintf(tmp, "%02x",data[i]); Serial.print(tmp); } } The problem is that the output is always a wrong hash code. I trie
  21. Is there a way to change the font of the Serial Monitor in Energia (version 1010E0012)? I want to change it to a fixed size font so columns line up. Looked in preferences.txt, but couldn't find it there. (not for the Serial Monitor anyway, just the code editor.)
  22. Is there a way to change the font of the Serial Monitor window in Energia (version 1010E0012)? I want to change it to a fixed size font (like courier or deja vu) so columns line up. Looked in preferences.txt, but couldn't find it there. (not for the Serial Monitor anyway, just the code editor.)
  23. Hi Everyone! I am trying to use the AIR430 Booster pack, MSP430G2452 uC and programming it with Energia 0101E0012 on a Mac. If I simply try to compile the examples given in energia (for example, WirelessMonitorSensor), I get a compile error as follows: /Applications/Energia.app/Contents/Resources/Java/hardware/msp430/libraries/AIR430BoostUSAFCC/utility/Platform.cpp: In function 'void A110x2500SpiRead(unsigned char, unsigned char*, unsigned char)': /Applications/Energia.app/Contents/Resources/Java/hardware/msp430/libraries/AIR430BoostUSAFCC/utility/Platform.cpp:84:28: error: 'SPIMISO_SET_MO
