  1. i prefer stripboard compared to that pad per hole stuff, but i dont know if it would be any good for a matrix, perhaps you could learn to use eagle. seeed does 10x 50x50mm boards for 10$.
  2. are you using a reflow oven to solder these?
  3. i usually order jelly bean stuff from tayda, they arent as cheap as some others on ebay but i can get stuff from them to new zealand within 3 weeks. dealextreme has some nice stuff now too but they take like 2 months. shocking. on the sparkfun free day i got one of their id-20 rfid readers, used it with an arduino and some really cheap tags from ebay, doubtful it would work on 3.3v. if you need a couple more msp430s to play with you could order some samples, like msp430g2253 and msp430g2231. perhaps try a led matrix display that you can write afew characters on, or write up conways
  4. the holes look slightly unaligned to the edge? you could make the two big header rows symmetrical just add say vcc next to gnd on the right, will make it look better populated with headers.
  5. no mounting holes this time? looking good mate.
  6. what resistor values for resistors R9 to R12
  7. they are both designed to fit into this http://www.ti.com/tool/msp-exp430fr5739 also doing tcpip requires abit of ram and flash space which you probably would have a hard time fitting into one of the value line chips, but since this other chip is also a 430 most the code should work on it. if your willing to spend that much for a module, another dev board couldnt hurt right? i think mouser is offering a free fram for dummies book too take a look at some specs http://www.ti.com/product/msp430fr5739
  8. how about bluetooth, http://store.43oh.co...4&product_id=60 + http://dx.com/p/wireless-bluetooth-rs232-ttl-transceiver-module-80711 ?

  10. perhaps the 2x6mm smd radial with longer leads?
  11. just use a standard TH watch crystal but use pads instead of vias? can be picked up pretty cheap from tayda and look similar to the one of the stellaris launchpad
  12. you got a ton of room there for all sorts of stuff, its a shame TI only does qfn instead of qfp packages.
  13. all my recent designs use a VCC GND TEST RESET header, would you use a thicker or thinner pcb thickness? power source is the biggest problem in my eyes as i prefer those coin cells, unfortunately they dont provide much power for 99999 leds in a tshirt. pocket battery? jst connector?
  14. sweet as, placed my order, got a couple of Robs boards too. 7.50 is good. local courier is 4.50-10
  15. transistors? http://tomscircuits.blogspot.co.nz/2009/04/musings-on-charliplexing.html
  16. P1OUT ^= BIT0; toggle ftw.
  17. how many stairs you looking at lighting? what sensor are you going to use for detection? recommend a time out to switch off the leds if the second sensor is not triggered timers are the way to go for pwm, but you could use some for loops to switch off and on an output with a very small increasing/decreasing delay between

  19. blinked P1.6 's led so far.
  20. just received a couple of msp430g2230 samples for testing, sadly wouldnt work with my older firmwared launchpad with the zif socket but i had one of the newer ones around. pretty similar to the msp430g2231
  21. this should have it inside, http://www.ti.com/litv/zip/slac060e G2XX3---N20
