For environments where moistire is a problem I've found that reed switches ( as per some alarm sytem semsors) are a good deal , hermetically sealed and water proof , only downside is, being glass envelope, they are not shock proof , although they generally need a fairly heavy shock to break , You also need a magnet to operate them :-)

Update on playing with "09" Having had no luck with Energia 09 on Ubuntu 12.04 , I had a look at my installed software , I saw that I had both V6 and V7 of OpenJDK JAVA Runtime , Thinking that I might not need both version I deleted "6" Attempting to load Energia failed totally so I reloaded "6" , Load Energia now and everything works without problems !!! Obviously my knowlege of Linux is too sketchy to come up with a credible explanation as to why removing something and then reloading the same thing made such a difference !!! :-) Anyway I how have Energia playing happily on

That's the same problem and error message I have in Ubuntu 12.04 , lsusb shows "1cbe:00fd Luminary Micro Inc."

I have to take back my previous comments !! Something very odd going on as far a my old Windows setups , Energia in a clean fresh install of XP works fine with both the 430 and Stellaris Launchpads , but my old XP setups just do not "take" the Stellaris icdi drivers , ?? the installation process seems to work , but checking in Device Manager shows that the drivers do not get installed !!! Well very happy to see thr new version , However , tried it with the Stellaris Launchpad , No go !!!, in either Linux or Windows versions :- No sign of a virtual USB com port to connect to !! , with the MSP430 launchpad it comes up on my computer as Com8 in XP , and all works well I'm almost tempted to believe that there has been a change of firmware in the recent production as the "Project 0" reference to controlling the board by the virtual com port does not work either as there is NO virtual com port ( tried with both of the Stellaris boards I received three days ago and on my deskt

submicro Afraid I can't help , never managed to get Energia running on Ubuntu so I gave up and went to the "Darkside" :- Windows XP , I have an old laptop for some of the many "Windows only" bits of software :-)

libmpc.so.2 is present in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu with all users having read permissions

Decided to give Energia a try I installed Energia on both 32 and 64 bit versions of Ubuntu 12.04 , Mimimal problems with the install ( had to rename librxtxSeriasl.so to OLDlibrxtxSerial.so in the 64 bit install to stop it complaining about wrong word length) but on trying to run the "Blink" program I get the following error :- /home/User/energia/hardware/tools/msp430/bin/../libexec/gcc/msp430/4.6.3/cc1plus: error while loading shared libraries: libmpc.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Any ideas ?

Bad form to reply to own post , but to save fruitless searches :- On looking I realised that the board would not be suitable as the LQFP 48 has a "square" form factor rather than the "DIP" of the 32 pin , nice board , but not breadboard friendly :roll: Art

New user restrictions prevent me from putting up a URL but try the ebay seller below For a quick general fix look at the boards sold by "Thai Shop Etc" I've bought their LQFP32 boards , no problems at all , So I'm sure their 48 pin ones would suit Art
