I tried, even with it set to 8, it is about half as bright. (It's not even visible at 0 and 1.) TI did reply, and they are working on sending a replacement

I have the same issue. When I contacted MetaWatch, I was told to go ask TI for a refund, but TI hasn't responded yet :-(
