Be a little wary of Avnet webinars. It seems you get heavily spammed afterwards. I'm not sure if anyone who registered for the FR5969 one ever got their dev kits.

Why would anyone want to use an 8-bit microcontrollers these days when 16 and even 32 bit are cheap and low power?

I decided that the $14 shipping justified $80 worth of various boards I had resisted ordering recently. I'm saving money that way - really. Some of the shipment should arrive today.

Here it is. My install is CCS 6.1 if that makes any difference.

MSP432 version of my Universal Graphics Library.
Works with my latest Color LCD BoosterPacks, 2.2" and 2.4" (320x240)
Touch support will be added in late April.

Fred got a reaction from Spyphase in How do I program a TM4C1294NCPDT microcontroller?
If do don't already have the Tiva C Conected LaunchPad then I suggest you get one. It's the easiest way to get started playing around with the microcontroller.

You should also be able to use the on-board debugger to debug and program your own custom board. I can see the JTAG connections between the debugger and microcontroller are broken out. There's normally a way to disconnect the two. (I'll check for you later how exactly to do this.) Otherwise the XDS100 or XDS200 (more expensive) are designed for the job.

I just notice that the CCS6.1 installation added the following link. It's for the MSP-TS432PZ100 target board. There's a full schematic, etc. but it doesn't give much more away about the MSP432 to be honest.

I know that my ESI project stalled over the Christmas break and I must admit I was struggling with it before that. I notice that nobody else seems to have any updates recently. I feel an update is probably due even if it's just this:

My impression is that the FR6989 is an awesome chip (especially EnergyTrace++) but that the ESI is a rather... er... how shall I put it... niche interest peripheral. It takes a lot of effort to get the best from it and it's difficult to stretch it beyond the exact use cases already documented by TI. Has everyone else come to a similar conclusion?

@@zlalanne I did a clean install of CCS6.1 as @@AWenzel recommended - CCS6.0 doesn't prompt you to upgrade automatically. I only noticed last night that a couple of start menu shortcuts were added along with the installation.

There's a CMSIS style blinky example. It mentions CMSIS definitions a lot. Not sure if that's enough to keep @@pabigot happy.

From the header it would imply Cortex M4, not M0.
Memory and peripherals, including ADC14, AES, CapTouch, DMA, DWT (Digital Watchpoint and Trace), EUSCI, Floating Point unit, ITM(?), Port Mapping (for 8 of the 10? 16-bit ports), Real Time Clock. [Probably stuff I've missed or misinterpreted.]
