  1. The gesture based password system sounds interesting though if you start waving your hands around, people would known what your password is. I wonder what's the maximum size possible for the sensor board. Having 1 mounted behind a LCD screen to make it interactive would be useful.
  2. I have a new question. For lab 7, serial communication, the instructor wrote the following lines in the ConfigPins function: void ConfigPins(void) { P1SEL |= TXD + RXD; P1DIR = ~(BIT3 + RXD); // P1.3 input, others output P1OUT = 0; // clear output pins P2SEL = ~(BIT6 + BIT7); // P2.6 and 7 GPIO P2DIR |= BIT6 + BIT7; // P2.6 and 7 outputs P2OUT = 0; // clear output pins } where TXD means BIT1 and RXD means BIT2. What does the line P1SEL |= TXD
  3. I rotated the TXD and RXD jumpers in J3 to horizontal like the photo on your website for board rev 1.5.
  4. The example sketch DigitalReadSerial compiled and programmed fine onto the newer MSP430G2553 Launchpad but it doesn't send back anything to the Serial Monitor when I pressed down the button on P1.3. I'm not sure what to do.
  5. I have a lot of user guide reading practice to do. The rw legend stuff is actually on page 24. Anyway, so if at POR, SCG0 and SCG1 has condition of disabled (rw-0). Then by using _bis_SR_register, wouldn't that set the SCG0 and SCG1 to enabled and turn on the system clock generator (what does the system clock generator do by the way?)?
  6. I'm quite new to the microcontroller world and recently picked up a TI Launchpad with a MSP430G2253. I've been following their workshop guide (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Getting_Started_with_the_MSP430_LaunchPad_Workshop). So far, I have 2 questions: 1. Regarding the user guide for the MSP430x2xx, when there are tables of registers, underneath, it says "rw-0" or "rw-1". Does that mean "read/write with default value of 0" or "read/write with default value of 1"? 2. Regarding lab 3 in the workshop - Running the CPU on VLO, in step 8, it says that _bis_SR_register(SCG1 + SCG0) m
