LariSan got a reaction from izdane in New $45 Beaglebone
@spirilis request
here are the photos from our Texas Based- Beagle Bone Black launch.
We went to CircuitCo (the people who are helping with the BYOBoosterpack contest) where BeagleBoard's birthplace is.
There should be better blogs coming out later. (most took on my iphone)
I'm interested to see if we can run the software that comes on the BB Black on the original one (I have 3 if anyone wants to try it out).
hope that helps

Actually this painfully true, you'd think it would be easy to get a hold of one of these for myself because we work at TI, but I'm in line to get mine from Adafruit.
What's really exciting about this version (besides all of the upgrades and the price) is that they have a very simplified software interface that uses the same energia commands inside a web-server IDE (plug in the board and get it started). Anything to get more people into hardware design is a win in my book!

I also find it funny that the TI produced Beagleboards, have FEMALE headers on them, unlike the justification for male headers on Rev 1.5 Launchpads. Oops.

It is, if you ever get down to Texas, put CircuitCo on your list to tour. They are super open to have people come and visit and they are only 3 miles from TI.
Kenneth Finnegan did a blog post on his tour: http://blog.thelifeofkenneth.com/2012/08/tour-of-circuitco-pcb-solutions.html

LariSan got a reaction from spirilis in Anyone going to Design West 2013?
No, I didn't get to go :-(
but there should be a lot of coverage on Twitter.
Adrian is there though, so is Trey German and they will be taking lots of photos.

LariSan got a reaction from izdane in LaunchPad Proto Plate- from Ponoko
BTW, feedback on the first protoplates that I got made from some of the teachers I sent it to.
- It's nice to have a hole in the plate, so if someone wants to hang the board up on peg-board or in a lab "check out" session. For now binder clips work. (wish I had a picture to show).
-another request for a "bento box" style , which sometime I'll sit down and think through it.
- be able to use other LaunchPads with it (which I really like @@Fred 's solution)
Untitled by laraswanland, on Flickr 10 of these ready to go for a intro to LaunchPad workshop. -

Not sure if this counts, but I've played with a few ideas myself (since I have to pack up and go to trade shows a lot).
the first-- I like to use photo-holders (like the kind you can get at scrapbook stores):

This one is from container store
Showing them in my backpack.
I've also tried storing them in acrylic containers like this, but I found that it doesn't travel well (thin acrylic shatters)
Also, this is what I have in my office to store the boosterpacks. I used these office containers for paper with little clear trays. -

you may also want to take a look at the MSP430 Teaching ROM. It starts a little basic, but it gets into the architecture at a higher level.

Actually, it's not new, but it's hidden inside of the TI University Program under teaching materials. We work with a few professors who are using the platforms to create course material for other professors to use as they wish.
Although it's a large download and it reminds me of those old CD-ROM's (memory lane: like encyclopedia-encarta), there's some good getting started information in there.

Thank you, I have recently been reading MSP430 Microcontroller Basics by John Davies, other tutorials by google search engine, and some guides/blogs linked on this board. The Family User's Guide that corresponds to my chip along with looking at example codes in the MSP430Ware has been very helpful in understanding the basic operations.
My area is mainly power electronics and power systems. My programming background is very limited. I took a C++ class freshman year and then had some Verilog and MIPS programming; however, it is no where near enough to be considered proficient.
Thank you for the recommendation. The Family User's guide has been helpful along with example codes from the MSP430Ware. Though, if it weren't for the example codes, I would most likely be dead in the water.

Is that something new LariSan ? I've never seen it before, and now am very curious about the contents. I did notice you mentioning it in another post however . . . odd having problems quoting your post lol.

LariSan got a reaction from mbeals in How to make ez430-Chronos-868 working on 915mhz?
I don't know of any easy way to do it, but I would think that you would have to pretty much re-design the board to change the frequency.
This is a really good app note on moving from frequency to frequency on the same antenna. This brings back a bit of nightmare flashbacks to my e-mag courses, but if you're into RF (or think you want to be) this may help : http://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra161b/swra161b.pdf
Where I found the above App Note

LariSan got a reaction from yyrkoon in Where to find Books and Learning Resources
So, the past year and a half I've been really focusing on getting more learning materials out for people to learn microcontrollers. We have an entire page of textbooks : http://ti.com/textbooks
and of course the free Teaching ROM's and our CNX.org channels and well as more coming down the pipeline.
e.g. Dan Harres from BitStream Technology made this MSP430 Robots book (came out end of March).
Issue is that I'm not sure where/how to publicize the information-- and I'm not sure it's getting out.
Also, I really want to collect reviews on the material so we can improve the next editions-- or just hear what people thought about the book or exercises.
I loved Matt (@CashDollar on Twitter)'s post on reviewing both the Davies Book and the Barrett and Pack Book. http://www.43oh.com/2012/08/book-review-microcontroller-programming-and-interfacing-texas-instruments-msp430-cashdollar-automation/
but outside of a few posts here and there in the General and Off Topic Forums -- I haven't found a place where people could post material and others could comment on it.
So my question:
Where would you generally go to find new information to learn something?
Do you guys know of anything that maybe I should take a look at/ places I should go to?

I'd like to see your blog when you get it up and hopefully we have a good place to post it when you do.
I subscribed to your YouTube channel and plan on watching your videos!
