Philipp reacted to cde in How many 'lego-natives' on this forum?
Someone did a bunch of msp430/nxt stuff that I found a while back:

Also has avr and pic based stuff.

Philipp got a reaction from Tribes in How many 'lego-natives' on this forum?
Hey,
I have an idea for an booster which can connect to two lego motors and two or maybe more lego sensors. Details on this are still in the very early design stage.
I'm not talking about the newer lego Mindstorms NXT motors with integrated encoders and i2c, i'm talking about the 'old' stuff from the first lego mindstorms or lego train generation:
Before beginning to work on this I just want to ask you guys, if you or your kids still do have some of this older Lego Technics stuff and if you're somehow interested in making these lovely motors work with Stellaris and msp430 launchpads.
Possible applications are basically endless, everyone who had the joy to play with Lego Technic some time ago knows what i'm talking about.
So, what do you think? ;-)

1)
Myself, I wish I could ditch the GUI and operate on bare metal!
I am too nob for that.
2)
Alas, yes, what I am trying to do is to offer low-ramp entry to MCUs using the tool kids have available, and XOs is something available in some places.
Indeed older laptops are almost free - in the US. But they keep a good value elsewhere. An example: a Dell machine I was gifted (as a discard) a couple months ago would go for over $400 in Bolivia...

Philipp reacted to LariSan in The 43oh Store will be closing temporarily
I am sad that the store will need to close, but understand completely if its taking a lot of time.
I've always been curious about Amazon store fronts if they would manage the shipping.
You have been so amazing managing the store all of this time. I know it's very much appreciated!

Hey, just saw this on H'a'D:
Nothing new there, basically only 8 leds, an msp430, a battery and some pcb, but i really like his design More Details

43oh runs on IPB 3.3
In a blog post yesterday,, IPB announced that SSO will be available in the next release v3.4. This will allow user integration of Stellarisiti and C2KCentral with 43oh while keeping them separate.
Just an update.

Philipp got a reaction from RobG in RGB Globe
That sounds like a very good way to increase resolution!
One could even use a 24" or 28" bicycle wheel (rim) without all the spokes mounted on top of a brushless motor, and one of these addressable LED strips where each LED has its own controller and communicates over OneWire.
Could be the largest LED globe atm

Philipp reacted to tonesenna in RocketFuel boosterpack
Last minut changes...
The original idea was to place the battery beneath the PCB. However, when stacking the RFBP with the LP, the stacking height was too high and forced the use of staching headers that were way too expensive and didn't allow to stack the RFBP with other boards.
So, I'm in thr process of moving all components to the bottom and placing the battery on top. I keep the area of the DIP socket clear so that we can stack boards with only 10mm spacing.
This will allow to keep BOM cost down, make the RFBP stackable and make it more convenient to handle.

Philipp reacted to tonesenna in RocketFuel boosterpack
Things have been advancing slowly but steadily. I made a major review so that I can source all components from the same distributor.
I also tried to improve power dissipation around the pass transistor so that I can keep operating temperature within reasonable limits.
So, here it is, hopefully the last design iteration of the rocketfuel boosterpack.

Philipp reacted to jazz in MSP430 USB Benchmark
I used stranded wire, nothing special. The most important thing is to have good magnifier. If you see what are you doing, than everything is much easier. I done some SMD p2p boards before (SOIC mostly), but this one was smallest work till now.
I was thinking that poor USB connection (big non SMD resistors, no standard connector...) will have big impact on transfer rate, but it seems that full-speed USB transfer is not sensitive to this.

Above Stellarisiti and C2kCentral forums will now redirect to 43oh. You will, for now, have to login to all sites to use these forums. Normally if you login once on the sites, you don't have to relogin.
This will help all communities share the same deals.

Philipp reacted to GeekDoc in [Group Buy-7]IV-18 VFD Clock - $20
In this environment, we're experimenting. There are no guarantees or warranties. I am glad the community found this problem before it baffled me.
I think it would be fair to run this as another group buy for these parts. Neither Cubeberg, nor Bluehash should have to absorb the additional costs in parts and shipping.
Bluehash: Let me know the cost, my PayPal awaits.

nup, the DRV8833 has a wide voltage range. i think traxman included the regulator to allow the launchpad being powered from a big battery / wall wart, too

Pack include TI DRV8833 chip for easy drive one stepper or two DC brushed motors (2 Amps max per winding, see datasheet for other info). Pack also contains small auxaliary 3,3V power supply for independent battery operation (without PC connection).
