@@spirilis - At first I didn't even consider it. I figured the more likely case was that it wouldn't transmit all the time - apparently I was wrong Certain times of the year - the voltage may regularly be very low - so I'm concerned that an LDO would work great during the summer, but not work well in the winter, or rainy/cloudy days. Looks like TI has some very LDOs with a low dropout (40mV) that might work though. The other issue would be overcharging the NiMh batteries as well. Another solution might be to put in bigger batteries that won't charge as quickly. So far - the rate

Reset and Test are needed for SBW programming (and at a minimum GND for obvious reasons). I typically add a 4 pin header to my custom boards (VCC, GND, TEST, RST).

So my issue right now - the max charge daily keeps going up! Slowly - and it's decently below 3v at this point (2.52v today) - but it keeps going up daily (202, 208, 213, 215). I may have to add some code in to turn on an LED until the value falls below a threshold.

I'm in - I was eagerly awaiting one a while back and was really bummed when they didn't end up making it. We might want to stick with parts for one specific camera for cost though - those smd connectors look they might be a pain - it might drop some of the other SMD parts if they're only needed for one model.

Interestingly enough - I checked my sensor yesterday - there was water in the zip-loc bag Thanks for all of the feedback on housing, etc. guys! I'll keep it all in mind - I'm expecting at least 3 outdoor sensors (wind speed + direction, rain, light + temp + humidity) - so taking care of them will be important. I did see some 3D-printed Stevenson screens mentioned in weather sensor projects for humidity/temp sensors that needed to be exposed, but not directly to elements. @@spirilis - just thought of a simple solution - throw in a silica gel packet! Any moisture that makes its way in should be taken care of pretty easily with that.

I've got a bunch of sensors in my house uploading data to my phant repository - but I decided to start looking into placing sensors outside as well. I purchased some $2 solar sensors from Target (Apparently they're frequently available from the dollar store as well - I'll check into that) in the hopes that I could use them to power an MSP430. The ones I purchased only provide ~1.2v of power since they're single battery. They're 200maH as well, but I think that will likely be plenty for my uses. Since one wouldn't do it - I used two in series. At full power - that should be around 2

I should have done some testing - but I just returned them to the vendor - other than my cheap RS multimeter - I don't really have the equipment to do much in the way of testing. Thankfully they refunded no problem - didn't even have to pay for shipping back. My guess would be they'd be so noisy - I wouldn't know what was going on until everything @ 2.4G stopped working in my house. I've already got 10 sensors as it is

Seeed has some flash deals - including the Grove Boosterpack. Works best with a 5529LP. Won't work well with any LP with the low ADC limit (CC3200, MSP432 - corrected by @spirillis) http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/?utm_source=EDM&utm_medium=EDM&utm_campaign=EDM20150324 The modules themselves are great - and there are other sensors that are 3v compliant - just don't have examples quite yet. Looks good! I'm using the site to monitor a bunch of my sensors as well. Moved my sensors off of data.sparkfun.com to an analog.io hosted phant server (mongo back end instead of NoDB) - queries are more responsive for my node-red alerts.

I still need to test this myself - but at least it compiles. Replace the provided humidity library with these files. Humidity_Temperature_Sensor.zip I'll test this out tonight and see if it works for me. You may also want to look at the github repo - https://github.com/Seeed-Studio/LaunchPad_kit- the examples have been cleaned up significantly. The updates are targeting the 5529LP, so you might have to make some pin changes depending on what LP you're using. Any other feedback you have would be great - I'll see if I can get it incorporated!

TER - I'm actually working on updating the libraries since there were several non-working examples. I'm working on tracking down a working DHT library - I'll check back in when I've got something - hopefully it'll be in the next week.

That's an excellent point @@spirilis - I've always bought cheap modules off of eBay - so very likely they're not. I wonder how much that's affecting my battery life since that seems to be one of the differences. The one thing that does worry me is the lack of components - I really wonder why they're missing on the COB version. Could be just a cost cutting measure. I'll have to do some range/reliability tests and see if I can come up with any differences. Granted - the ranges I'm dealing with in my house are minimal compared to what the modules should be capable of but it would be intere

So I recently purchased some "NRF24L01+" boards on eBay. I didn't notice until after the fact that they're chip-on-board and are missing a TON of the components that you typically see on these modules. I found some discussions online about these types of boards - http://www.avrfreaks.net/forum/help-identifying-nrf24l01-compatible-modules. The eBay seller swears that they're genuine NRF24L01+ - but I seriously doubt that - I just need proof. So my question - what's the best way to test these to prove one way or another?
